Nice typical English restaurant/pub. Was there on a Sunday afternoon giving my legs a rest from exploring the East End. They serve a excellent Sunday Roast. Very tasty and good serving. Very friendly waiter/barman. Also serve German weiss beer. Also tastes great with Sunday Roast :)

This is a solid restaurant with a nice exterior and interior, good food, decent menu and great staff, and it's not overly expensive. What more do you want from a restaurant? I came here for a quick bite to eat whilst on my lunch break to meet some family members. I had passed by many times and although it looks... More

Lovely, classy joint. Relaxed, friendly polite service. Food is not cheap, but well executed simple classic dishes. Nice looking French wine list and good bottled beers too. Great place to relax for an hour or two between meetings. Almost dock a star for lack of wifi but waitresses are too nice.

The full English had the potential to be lovely but it was served luke warm and so I had to eat it so fast to retain any sort of enjoyment the whole experience was just a bit ruined. If my friend hadn't have been paying as a birthday treat I would have complained. At £10 a plate plus service charge... More

Had a lunch party in a private room upstairs at this "olde worlde" restaurant. Whilst the room could do with some softening is was a very nice space and I would consider it again. The food was good but not brilliant and the staff and service were excellent, All in all not bad.

Popped in for a post market drink and stayed for lunch.Had the Mussells, and Fish and Chips.Mussels were plump and juicy, and the fish was fresh and flaky.Young and friendly staff.Wine list mainly French.Overall, the food was excellent although the high prices reflected it's city setting.

Second visit with an old mate for our annual lunch. First class food and service and possibly the loveliest waitress I have ever had the pleasure to meet. May not wait another year before next visit.

Been here on a couple of occasions and have found that like the reviews, it is all a bit ,hit and miss!! When it is good the service and food are first class(as on my first visit), yet on my second when it was actually less busy ,both were inferior. I feel with a few tweaks this could easily become... I visited the English Restaurant for the second time with a large group of international lawyers attending training in London. Once again I was so impressed with the way 22 people choose their menu on the night and there was no delay waiting for food, the food was excellent and the staff could not do enough for us. I will... The English Restaurant serves English food, I had a fry up, as it has been a while since I could get a good fry up. You will not be disappointed by the food or the service, very attentive and responsive as well as the food being tasty and delicious, if a little bit naughty, as we all know an English... More

Staying in Spitalfields

Neighborhood Profile
Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.
