I don't really recall the quality of the cocktails. I just recall how unpleasant and sneering the staff and regulars were. Fancy a cocktail? The Lanesborough is up the road. Failing that, hop over to Dandelyan.

Had great three martini with my friend, vodka, the famous Dukes Gin Martini and the vesper. All of them were not even stirred, just rinsed with vermouth and then the hard spirits into the glasses. Vodka one was very smooth, Gin was EXCELLENT, however, the vesper was somehow "different" from what I expected, little kick of China flavor nor Lillet... More

For us mere mortals this is probably as close as you can feel to being a member of "society". Yes it's £20 a drink but for the people who attend this classic spot that is nothing. I can only imagine but in my mind's eye this is exactly what a private club is supposed to be like from the dark... More

Been here a few time and it's always great. I usually get the gin martini, which tend tone bigger than most bars. Comes with some quality nibbles. The place is small and intimate. That's part of the charm. Perfect for a cold winter afternoon before it gets too busy.

Quality service, food above expectation, love the steaks, best beers fresh in the town. Friday Roast is just amazing. And also u can see sunset from the terrace.

When traveling in London, I often will stop by for a drink. This time I was with my brother and bumped into a friend from the U.S.

The Duke's had been recommended to me as the place to go for martinis in London. While the atmosphere was nice, particularly in the back room, the drinks felt a little overwrought. I would have been satisfied with a good martini served at the bar. Instead, a needlessly stuffy waitress brought a bar cart around and made acceptable but unremarkable... More

A friend of mine told me about this wonderful establishment and the history surrounding it and so my wife and I joined him one evening. A lot of people moan about the cost, but it's really not much more than many high end hotel bars and when you consider their martinis are STRONG, so last you a long time (in... More

After years of talking about it, we finally went to Dukes Hotel to enjoy their legendary Martini. It was worth every single ££ . We asked for the classic, the Vesper, which is quite different from the standard gin or vodka plus vermouth. The presentation is wonderful: the drink is made at your table. Price-wise not for the faint of... More

Sandro looked after us very well, thanks for an excellent evening. James Bond themed cocktails were the obvious highlight.

Staying in St. James's

Neighborhood Profile
St. James's
Perennially fashionable since the days of Henry VIII, the aristocratic “Clubland” of St James's is a premier destination for high end craft and bespoke design. Here you’ll lose count of the Royal Warrants (which indicate that the Royal Family patronizes the establishment) seen in shop front windows, even during a short stroll to bordering Green Park or St James’s Park. With the brightly lit and constantly buzzing junction of Piccadilly Circus at its northeast corner and none of Central London too far away, this is an surprisingly central and accessible part of town, especially given its prosperous demeanor.
