My daughter booked Barton Rouge in Liverpool for Mother's Day as we had previously had a great time at the chain's outlet in Chester. Nice decor, bit cool in the main room but think we all preferred that to it being too hot. Food was...decent, starters were a bit minimalist and served up with little salad/side dish. We had Chicken Chatt, Onion Bahjis and a Chicken Pakora. All very palatable either way but would have liked some lettuce/lemon/tomato/cucumber or similar to balance the spice (of the Chatt). Main courses again all delicious and served up in normal bowls, nothing too arty like the picture used on here! We had 4 different mains, rice and naan breads and all very edible and nice. Drinks - 3 of the party of 4 on soft drinks and just 3 pints of Cobra alcohol wise. Generally we all drank 2 bottles of tap water between us. The kids had actually offered to pay the bill until we saw it was for nearly £145 quid! They had added on the service charge of 10% themselves (we were fine with that on this occasion as the servers were all attentive and nice - perhaps because it was so quiet!!). Overall, good food but too expensive. Understand that it is in a City Centre and current costs are difficult for hospitality trade but, IMO there are better options within walking distance for quality and value for money.More
