Really tasty pies, puff pastry topping and flavoursome fillings. However, overpriced for what it is, slightly claustrophobic atmosphere. Most staff are lovely, very hard working and friendly but on our most recent visit with family from out of the country, one member of staff was very inpatient with the language barrier. Rude, abrupt and unhelpful- really disappointing as we thoroughly... More

Delightful little restaurant at the top of Steep Hill, like eating in someones dining room. Despite the warmth of the day the restaurant was pleasingly cool, with air con. The restaurant has an early bird meal deal of 3 courses for £14.95 or 2 for £12.95. The choices were good with everyones favourites. The chicken liver parfait and the mushroom/whiskey... More

Pies to die for - but beware they are big pies and we didn't have room for dessert. These are proper pies served in pie dishes with pastry lids, steak and kidney was really tasty and so was chicken pie. Veggies were cooked really well. Mash was lovely and smooth.

So glad we chose to eat here. The Scallops for starter were gorgeous as were the wild boar sausages. Followed by chicken pie with mash and veg and beef strips in a creamy mustard sauce. Only complaint no room for the baileys cheesecake! Will definitely make room for our next visit. Service was good and had a table in the... More

Tucked away towards the top of Steep Hill. First place I ate when I came to Lincoln. Typically you should call ahead and reserve, but they accept walk-ins. They update their menu and specials quite regularly and I have yet to be disappointed.

after a 5 year visit myself and 10 other cyclists made the trip across to lincoln froim sheffield, needless to say after a few much deserved lagers we all were looking forward to our pies etc.... i found it rather dissapointing for the very pleasant waitress to inform us probably 20% of the mains menu was sold out, not good... Had the pleasure of eating here after living in the area for years. I wish I had made the effort a long time ago. We went for the three course option. Well worth it. The portion sizes were generous without being overbearing. I had a soup to start. Pea and smoked bacon. It was well seasoned and very tasty. Others... More

Some people insist a pie has pastry on the base as well as the top. If you are one of those people then you will be disappointed with Browns but you will be missing out! The food was really tasty. We had a 3 courses lunch and wobbled out. The starters, pies, sausages and desserts were all excellent. The gravy... More

Situated in an ancient, small building, in the center of old, uphill Lincoln, this is a lovely restaurant, serving good food. A warning to people who are fussy about pies, the ones here are all pot pies rather than fully encrusted, however, after a few visits, the ones I have tried have all been delicious. Being a popular place it is... More

Very quaint atmosphere in the very old building . The menu was varied and the pies were very nice. It would be difficult I think for disabled as it is situated on the steep street but not too far off a road. Staff very helpful and friendly
