Did fear the worst sitting in the upstairs lounge drinking our gins listening to the waitresses being told to smile as they went down the stairs, but once down at our table all became clear. This is good old fashioned care and service. Beautiful breads served with Lincolnshire poacher butter. We had the belly pork and melon sorbet starter which... More

An intimate, cosy restaurant set in an historic building located in the heart of the old town. The menu is small however the food is tasty and well presented. There is only a limited vegetarian choice though. We didn't have starters. The appetiser was an unexpected delight and the bread was delicious and it was served in a cloth bag which had a... More

We liked the look of the historic exterior and the menu of this establishment on passing so we booked straight away for the following evening on our city break. The restaurant is small with no more than 6/7 tables so pre-booking is essential. Staff are welcoming and efficient and there is an attention to detail in service and presentation which... More

Not only was it the friendliest of welcomes from Samantha and her team, not only was the food excellent (especially the turbot with fig, butternut squash and serrano ham) and the setting cosy but have you ever come across this when you come to pay? The card machine was broken and we were without enough cash or a chequebook. Samantha... More

This is a good fine dining experience. Everything well cooked and presented and the service was excellent. Probably a good place for a romantic evening out. Dinner cost £115 inc service and wine (two courses as we skipped dessert) which was about right for the meal.

An intimate restaurant pleasantly decorated created a relaxing atmosphere for a special occasion. Some may find the close proximity of tables obtrusive but that is of an individual taste but personally I do find it interesting observing fellow diners' choices. I made a reservation one week in advance and was unable to obtain my preferred time but as there are... More

Lovely restaurant, food and relaxing atmosphere. By far the best place I gave ever eaten not just for the fare but also the ambience - sometimes splashing out on a quality place can result in feeling a little uncomfortable but not here - the recommended wine was superb and every course absolutely fantastic. I can't recommend it highly enough. We... More

If you appreciate good food, you will love the Jews House. The chef knows how to combine flavours, cook to perfection and present with style, and all this for three courses for £21.95 from the "lunch for less menu". The atmosphere at lunch was perfect, as was the service, could not be faulted! Really wish we could have had the... More

We went on recommendation and was not disappointed. Firstly let me say it was not cheap, but you get what you pay for. We got wonderful food, superb service and knowledge from the manageress guiding us through the wine list so we have the right wine with our meal. You come away feeling you have been treated like royalty. We... More

The Jew's House Restaurant is in one of the oldest buildings in the ancient city of Lincoln. It is quite small and advanced booking is required. Having failed to get in on a previous visit, we made sure that we booked ahead of time this time. The service was good, with our host being the part owner of the restaurant,... More
