Found this place on the way back from the race track. From the road you can only see a sign and need to drive in to the housing estate, so if your not from around the area bear this in mind. Stopped off for lunch, which we thoroughly enjoyed. In fact we wished we had found this sooner during our... More

Went to the shires today after reading reviews on here. The pub is set in beautiful grounds with lots of outside seating if weather is decent. Service is unobtrusive but good. Food is outstanding and portions generous. They even gave us bones for our dogs. We had £20 3 course option. There are extras depending what u want. Myn was... More

We went here for a meal mid week. The staff were friendly and the food was fab. I had crab cakes to start followed by the fillet steak. It was cooked to perfection, I asked for mine medium - still pink but not rare at all, Delicious meal, , served with coleslaw, salad, onion rings and mushrooms. Chips arrived as... More

We go to this pub every few months or so and have always had a good meal. Prices are reasonable, food is really good and portions plentiful. It is also quite pleasant on a nice evening for a drink in the huge garden with the kids as it has a wooden fort and plenty of space for them to play.

We were introduced to this pub / restaurant by a friend who has moved nearby. What a find! Especially on a Thursday evening for the early bird carvery. Really good meat a wonderful selection of potatoes & veg. & plenty of it all. Fantastic value and very pleasant staff and surroundings. A good evening out and hopefully we will return.

We went here with our adult children, their partners and my mum to celebrate her birthday. The service we received was excellent and the food was perfect, with lots of choice.

Good: the menu choice was wide and varied with something for everyone. The food was generally well presented and usually well cooked. The Tuna was very well presented. Judging by the number of people there when we went it has a good reputation Bad:The toilet floors were very slippery (when dry!). We had two disabled people in our party and... More

Went on a Monday lunch time - not many places bother to offer much on a Monday - and yet still there was a big selection of main courses to choose from. The Battered Cod was superb - accompanied by a good portion of chips and home made coleslaw. The selection of desserts was amazing and I loved the taste... More

Booked a table for 4 on a Sunday lunchtime. Restaurant very busy and we had to wait 30 mins+ to queue. However, food very good - choice of 4 carved meats and plenty of different vegetables. Staff very friendly and put candles in a couple of "birthday desserts." A great place to meet and eat (if not in a hurry.)
