Sometimes popular places lose their edge when they are really busy. Fully expected to have to wait as a walk-in customer, but we were seated in the restaurant fairly quickly. Drinks were brought to our table from the bar by the waitress and she was very informative about the specials and which choices were better value. I chose the fish... More

Dropped into our friendly local with my daughter for a meal after the football match. As always, couldn't fault the service, and their steak and Billy ale pie never disappoints!

Myself and my other half visited here last night. Initially we were told that we would have to wait for 10-15 minutes for a table in the near empty restaurant, and when we did return we then had to wait another 10-15 minutes for our order to be taken. When our food finally arrived (in stupid wooden crates, what's wrong... More

Had pulled pork and southern fried chicken. The pork was poor 4/10 at the most and the chicken not much better. Mentioned it to the lady clearing our plates and she really wasn't bothered. Becky on the other hand was more apologetic. Won't be going again and won't recommend it. I'd go as far as to advise people not to... More

the quint little pub set in the countryside is a nice place for a simple bite to eat. Plenty to choose from on the menu - tuna nicoise salad was good. Interesting décor inside if your into memorabilia in pubs. parking onsite

Nice pint of Skydiver and good portion of Fish, proper chips and mushy peas. Lovely beer memorabilia apart from the Heineken beer mats

Sunday lunch was very good. Roast beef and lamb excellent, with well cooked vegetables ( not over cooked) and igreat service.

Conveniently situated just outside the city centre the Cow and Plough is the perfect alternative to the many good gastro pubs in the East Midlands. Boasting a great selection of guest ales in addition to the Steamin Billy range this pub does traditional pub fare at reasonable prices using mainly locally sourced ingredients.

On first glance you would think it was a big drinkers pub, but it really isn't. Went with my 4 year old & mother for lunch whist other son at a pottery party opposite. The staff were really friendly & there was a large variety of people eating & drinking. Very relaxed atmosphere, kids & dogs welcome. Menu was excellent,... More
