I use tearooms a lot in Cumbria and Northumberland. The prices here are the most expensive I have come across and I have never paid same price for a scone with butter only(and not enough!)as it would be with cream and jam..Disappointing.......I would expect the best scone ever but it was very ordinary.

We have visited before and had a great experience so returned, we arrived for lunch at 12.30 and there were no other customers but 4 members of staff, every one said 'hello' as we entered, we sat down and waited to be served and we waited and we waited, eventually I got up and asked to be served, when the... Deserves your support - championing local, organic food. Decent hot chocolate - didn't try food. Peer in the mill windows or take the tour if possible too.

Our walking group went for our afternoon cuppa after our walk . We gave notice as we were a large group so there would be plenty of scones and soup for anyone that needed. I had taken my sandwich on the walk so just had a latte and some tea bread which was lovely and moist I think it was... More

Called in here after a 6.6 mile walk around Lacys Caves and long meg. Very quaint, not too big inside, does not have much of a food menu, but does have a good range of cakes... but what you do get is 100% organic and very tasty, and well presented. Yes it is expensive, especially some of the smaller meals.... More

This little gem was a welcome watering hole after our walk. Lemon cake was delicious and the tea was a good brew. The lady who served as could not have been more helpful and sad willing to share one of her recipes

With its bright pink walls and royal blue window frames you cannot miss the Watermill. We came across this lovely place on a hiking tour. It's one of those places that gets everything right as it is it's simple and authentic. Everything here is home baked and incredibly tasty and delicious, made with flour produced by the adjacent mill. You... More

Visited with small group of walkers. Previous experience had been OK although pricey, but it was a hot day and we were in need of refreshment. 11.45am and no scones ready, soup served lukewarm, staff less than enthusiastic. Prices now higher to the point of outrageous - cheese on toast and coffee £9, soup which was sent back to be... More

Not visited for a while but was in the area and knew the watermill had been up for sale a while back so decided to see what was different. Nothing had really changed. More car parking at back but still the same quaint quirky tearoom I had always liked. Sometimes it is nice to find things familiar. Had delicious broccoli... More

Had cauliflower and Loch Arthur cheese soup which was mouthwatering good. Everything made here is vegetarian, organic and fresh. The bread that was served with the soup was made from flour ground at the mill and there was four different types, all of which were delicious. Unfortunately we were too full to try any of the cakes which were on... More
