I had 'half' chicken pie, which was full of big chunks of chicken, ham and leek, lashings of gravy and chips, which was just what I needed after a days walking. Great ales and friendly staff.

Having visited this establishment on a number of occasions over the past few years, I have had no reason to find fault. Indeed, I wrote a glowing review some time back. It is therefore disappointing to report details of a recent visit with a group of friends whilst on a walking break. We visited on a Wednesday evening, mainly to... More

We decided on this place because of its trip advisor score. Not sure if they were having a bad day but in general the 5 of us were very underwhelmed. All the food was palatable but sauce in the fish pie had too much cream in it, chips and batter were soggy and other dishes under seasoned. Pleasant atmosphere in... More

Friendly bar staff...lovely draught cider....just the job after walking for four hours....was packed and more piling in as we left....couldn't find much to eat gluten free on the menu so we just had peanuts and crisps and enjoyed the atmosphere

We went to the George as we had stayed there last year and had some good meals, however on this occasion we could only give the meal a 5 out of 10 as the fish was coated in a very heavy batter. The chips and peas ok. Plate hot (important )

Lovely staff, great food. Good value. Large portions. All these positives are reflected by the fact that it is often full and booking is to be recommended. The pies are not for the faint hearted ....anyone finishing a half portion of the famous cow pie deserves an award! Will be back and would definitely recommend.

An average pub meal. Portions of chop& veg were reasonable & the pies were big but there were only 9 bits of scampi to a portion. It's still a good pub but something missing to what it used to be.

Fantasic food in at The George..when ever we are in Keswick we always go here. Excellent food especially the famous 'cow pie' never disappointed by the fantastic food quality. The farmhouse pie is also fantastic.

Booked a table for two on Easter Sunday and glad we did as the dining room was packed out. No wonder the place is rammed, the food is delicious and there's lots of it. I went for the farmhouse pie with chips, which was delicious. Good atmosphere and service.

8 of us visited here one Friday evening. We booked in advance. It was very busy, good atmosphere, lovely food and lots of it. Recommended :)
