Our room overlooked the external kitchen door and entrance from car park that attracted some smokers and friends of the staff, so windows remained closed. The room was quite small but comfortable, had issues with housekeeping but those were sorted. We only ate once in...More

I've given this an average for several reasons. First when we arrived the fire was on but not for long and was quite chilly the evening we went in. I ordered the chicken stuffed with spinach and cheese but found the filling quite bland. I...More

We visited The George Hotel for food on our mini-moon and we really weren't disappointed! Both myself and my husband would highly recommend the gigantic pies- they were amazing! Would definitely return on our next trip!

Great atmosphere in this busy pub. If you can't get a table in the pub there is a restaurant with exactly the same menu and tables can be reserved. The food was filling and plentiful. I had the ultimate burger twice, it was so good....More

Enjoyed an evening meal here during our stay in Keswick. There is a large choice of local produce. The food was cooked well, very tasty and enjoyable.

I had 'half' chicken pie, which was full of big chunks of chicken, ham and leek, lashings of gravy and chips, which was just what I needed after a days walking. Great ales and friendly staff.

Having visited this establishment on a number of occasions over the past few years, I have had no reason to find fault. Indeed, I wrote a glowing review some time back. It is therefore disappointing to report details of a recent visit with a group...More

We decided on this place because of its trip advisor score. Not sure if they were having a bad day but in general the 5 of us were very underwhelmed. All the food was palatable but sauce in the fish pie had too much cream...More

Friendly bar staff...lovely draught cider....just the job after walking for four hours....was packed and more piling in as we left....couldn't find much to eat gluten free on the menu so we just had peanuts and crisps and enjoyed the atmosphere

We went to the George as we had stayed there last year and had some good meals, however on this occasion we could only give the meal a 5 out of 10 as the fish was coated in a very heavy batter. The chips and...More

No Idea! Give them a ring?

hello - we were at your pub last weekend and I wanted to order a 125 ml glass of wine - as I wanted to pace my alcohol intake. I was told that I could get a 125 ml glass but that it would cost the same as a 175 glass. Pretty unbelievable and I can't understand how that encourages a measured, resonably paced approach to drinking. Why on earth do you have this pricing policy? Thanks - Debbie

Is there a new chef in place here? The food reviews are now totally pants. Highlighting the use of boiled to death veg, instant packet mash and a wonderful expensive steak tasting of fish. Is this the new low and norm here? If so, I will never visit. Why are they cutting corners on food quality and now offering rude service? Is there a new manager ? Not good.
