This is our favourite restaurant in Kendal. The food is exquisite- tasty, beautifully prepared and presented and always imaginative. Do book ahead if you want dinner as it is a great favourite. We love brunch there - always great fun in a party! Now the new restaurant extension has been completed the team can manage to take larger parties. Last... More

Thank you for such a positive review, we are very proud to have such a fantastic kitchen extension. It makes for an amazing space for the Apprentices to be learning in. We can comfortably cater for a party of 25 people due to the new kitchen. I am also pleased to hear that you enjoy our very popular brunches which... More

The setting for this restaurant is exceptional, being in one of the oldest buildings in Kendal, and in fact our table, perched on cobble stones, was on the original Roman road of Kendal. Upstairs is a four poster bed, rumoured to have been used by Anne Boleyn! So on to the food..... The restaurant is staffed by Kendal College apprentices,... More

Went here on a Friday evening for the taster menu. The premises itself is very spacious and you are allowed to have a look around the older rooms to see the history of the building. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was mainly extremely good, the starters and the cod dish in particular. However the second main... More

We went last night for my birthday after booking in May & we were not disappointed. We were put in a little room called the snug, it was like a private dining room & very atmospheric. The staff were wonderful and they could not do enough for us and the food was 1st class and served beautifully! You must go... More

"Wow" Thank you for such a positive review we are delighted that you enjoyed your experience at Castle Dairy. The 'snug' is one of the most popular rooms for such an intimate dining experience, it is almost always booked well in advance. There are a few good restaurants in Kendal but Castle Dairy is the first to provide a 'Fine Dining' experience. Six of us went for a 'special birthday' meal and we were all pleasantly surprised by both the venue, the food and the service. The starters were imaginative, the mains perfectly cooked and the sweets left a smile on everyone's... More

Booked this as a treat for both of us on a long trip north. It is in a really old building in Kendal a series of small interconnecting rooms, both the cooking and the service is done by those who are either at Kendal Catering College or have some connection with it. The food was really excellent, big city standard,... More

We found this gem of a place just 5 mins walk from the town centre. Steeped in history, this cosy restaurant feels quite homely & welcoming (the fire places are quite big & we we're told when they're lit, it's even cosier if that's possible). The menu is very confident & complete with something for everyone. The prices reflect the... More
