Excellent, home-cooked food at fair prices and friendly service continue to be the defining characteristics of this traditional, British cafe. Extremely popular with locals and always busy, you can eat in or takeaway, but one thing's for certain, whatever you choose, you'll not leave hungry!

Cheap and cheerful with very good food. we use it a lot when we need to meet up. Parking is near Abbot Hall so very convenient for both.

Great small local cafe saving a wide range of cooked meals and snacks. Quick service, good prices, though waitresses could do with cracking a smile once in a while. Good range of puddings

The food here was good and good value from money. Would have rated it higher if they had offered veggie sausage.

Lovely little gem. Fantastic full English. My overly fussy ten year old eats it all up! Friendly staff and service with a smile

We had breakfast here before visiting the museum and gallery around the corner. All day breakfast is served. The four of us enjoyed our meals. Friendly prompt service was offered. Consider arriving before 10:00 as the local tradesmen seem to arrive after that time for their take-away breakfasts.

Popped in whilst in Kendal from previous reviews. It was nice and priced fairly. Not the best tasting food, but that said we ate it all. 2 English breakfasts and a mug of tea. The service was with a smile and a nice warm welcome. We would definitely go back...

This cafe is great, especially when it's only round the corner from where I live. We love to go here on a Saturday morning for a breakfast after a heavy Friday night out. The food is always cooked to perfection. The portion sizes are just right. I must call in and try something off the menu sometime, rather than my... More

It feels odd giving a 5-star review to an unassuming café like this, but really for what it tries to offer this place couldn't do much more. It's a very typical café menu - a good selection of fry-ups, all-day breakfasts and light lunches. Even better, they are very flexible and you can pick and choose parts of the menu... More
