We only had a short stop in Grasmere on our tour. The Tea Gardens had a fair selection of sandwiches, paninis and soups...nothing spectacular but tasty. A good choice when in town.

Hi Norma, Thanks for taking the time to leave us some nice comments. We don't pretend to be more than we are, but strive to provide fresh, homemade food. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

The outdoor seating is good, by the river, if you can find a table, and if the weather is ok... it is partly covered though. Teacakes were rather average, not the 'home-made' country style you may expect. Service very good though, and tables well spaced...More

Hi Izzie, Thank you for taking the time to leave some nice comments. Because we sell far more scones than teacakes, we have opted to have those be homemade instead of teacakes that then go to waste. I do hope you visit us again soon,...More

We'd been on a hike around Grasmere lake and I wanted an ice cream to boost my sugar levels. Unfortunately their ice cream machine had broken and as I have an egg allergy I couldn't eat any of the cake so I just had a...More

Hi Katie, It's Sod's law that as soon as the weather gets nice and even the slightest bit warm, our (brand new) ice cream machine throws a fit and stops working! It's the same with our ice maker... I honestly think that British machines just...More

This has been here for years, even before the bridge when people would arrive by carriage and wait for it to ford the water. They have a good selection of food and deserts.

Hi Dave, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment; however I'm disappointed to hear the service was just OK for you as we try and provide our customers with as good as service as possible (despite only being counter service). I do...More

Hi Sully, I'm sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. It is unusual to hear complaints about the portions, particularly in regard to our jacket potatoes, as they are normally heaped with toppings and quite a full meal. Our bread is in...More

Description
The Grasmere Tea Gardens provides a lovely respite after a long walk up the fells, or a quick enjoyable stop over for diverse coach parties. We offer an array of homemade soups, sandwiches, paninis, chilli, and jacket potatoes, as well as home baked cakes and scones. As well as a variety of teas and coffees, we serve a selection of cold beer and wine, and yummy soft serve ice-cream. Our staff provide quick and friendly service for those on a tight schedule, or beautiful views, rain or shine, from our outdoor terrace, overlooking the Grasmere Church and famous grave site of poet William Wordsworth.
