Enticed in by sign welcoming dogs at outside tables but, as it was such a lovely day, all were taken. Request to sit inside was granted (a little reluctantly, maybe?) and thankfully our mut did not disgrace himself - just sat quietly, petted by family at next-door table. Despite the roaring trade, the service was swift and efficient. Wife and... More

A clean and well presented café with a good amount of outside seating. The sandwiches are not overly expensive of this area and the service efficient.

The scone looked very ordinary.... it was, however, warm from the oven and when I broke it open, the smell of home-baked scone was extraordinary! It was truly the best fruit scone I have ever had. Served with clotted cream and jam, together with an espresso, I was set up for the day. Apparently the scones are made and baked... More

Hi Marmaduke! I am so pleased you enjoyed our homemade scones so much! They are quite scrumptious just out of the oven and slathered in clotted cream :) Thank you for leaving the nice review. I hope you visit us again soon, we'll have more scones waiting! More

This delightful little place has real charm and a scrumptious selection of sandwiches and paninis. They also serve hearty soups that comes as a warm welcome when the Cumbrian weather suddenly turns cold. Staff are friendly and welcoming and I noticed how they were quick to offer another customer an alternative option when she discussed her dietary requirements. A no... More

...with a lovely, simple menu - and plenty of sweet treats for after. Service was a little dis-organised when we were there, but so long as you are not in a hurry it just adds to the charm of the place. The Chilli Bowl is very, very good.

Hi Will, Thank you for the nice review! I am glad you had an enjoyable experience. With the volume of customers this time of year, unfortunately things tend to get a bit hectic (but we do try our best!). That being said, we do appreciate understanding and patient patrons such as yourself :) I hope you visit us again soon! More

Staff here are thoughtful and cautious enough to avoid giving vegans jam in case it contains animal products. Great to see some thought going into this. We ate everything we were offered from the menu, which was limited, but we enjoyed it all. The scone and flapjack were great and my only complaint about the onion soup was that it... More

We popped in here for lunch having walked for 5 hours around the Fells so we were proper hungry! The queue to order food was lengthy but the food came quickly and tasted great. Simple menu but hits the spot and isn't expensive. Large table for our large group. Toilets cleans and has wi-fi. Also you can have a takeaway... More

The Grasmere Tea Gardens occupies a lovely little spot, with an excellent view on the patio area. The inside has a cozy feel to it, and the staff are friendly. The food is not exactly gourmet fare, but still well made and flavorful. Perfect place to stop by for a relaxing lunch.

Been visiting grasmere for 10 years and this shop for 4 years. Purchased drinks and food today and was charged £6.50 for 2 glasses of milk with crusha milkshake in. When I spoke to the "manager" I was told that I decided to buy the drinks and that "this is the lake district and things are more expensive" she informed... More

I have been in customer service for close to 20 years, and being American, I take this service very seriously. I would NEVER smirk at a customer. I must admit I have never been comfortable with confrontation and in my nervousness and attempt to remain kind, I might smile a bit. It was certainly not intended in a patronising fashion.... More

We visited the Grasmere Tea Gardens on the 26th July. We had never eaten in Grasmere before and thought the Grasmere Tea Gardens looked inviting. Me and 3 other friends decided to find a table and sit by the river side. The staff noticed we sat down at the table and took the left over plates from the last customers... More

Hello Rebeckah, I appreciate the candid review, however I am equally disappointed to hear you had such a negative experience. In regard to the lack of menus, very often people bring up the menus to the counter to order and leave them on the counter. We do try our best to return the menus to the tables, but that's hard...
