Called in today for lunch. It was hot so we put our bags at an empty table and I grabbed a quick look at the menu and decided quickly what I wanted. Now, given you can only order at the counter it seemed pointless to sit down so I went up to where my partner was stood looking at the... More

Hello Simon, I appreciate the candid review. I am sorry to hear that you had a less than enjoyable experience. Along with the hanging chalkboard menus, we have put the time and effort into making trifold menus that are placed on all the tables. As customers often do not see these, we often offer, out of consideration, for them to... More

Stopped off here for a quick drink whilst having a walk round grasmere after we had been to the famous gingerbread shop. Quite a lot of outdoor seating overlooking the river and opposite the church which would been lovely had it not been raining. dogs were well looked after with a free large biscuit bone! Free wifi too.

Definitely on the tour bus circuit, this tea room was recommended to our group of 44 by our trip leader as a place to take our lunch. Because it was a chilly day, many of us ordered the potato leek soup at 4.25. Despite the Tripadvisor sign, neither my spouse nor I thought that this item was very good--and we... More

We were only in Grasmere for a very short lunch break. It is really a very quaint village and begs leisure. Unfortunately there were at least 5 or 6 other tour coaches in at the same time, with the same idea as us, for a "quick lunch." The few inviting places looked swamped. The Grasmere Tea Garden is almost the... More

Hi Life-travelers, Thank you for the detailed review. As I mentioned in a preview response, during these busy summer months, Grasmere is inundated with daily (and almost hourly) coach parties. With a few other cafes in the village no longer taking these groups, it means more business for us! We certainly appreciate this added business, but it can often get... More

My wife and I were part of a large bus tour and we luckily found the Grasmere Tea Gardens before everyone else did and we got a table outside. The lunch was terrific, we couldn't have asked for more. Everyone in the shop were very nice and handled the growing human traffic quite well. We both wrapped up lunch with... More

So much more than just a tearoom. Two delicious plates of food followed by the best sticky gingerbread ever, better even than my own and I hate admitting that. Even though it was busy the service was friendly and cheerful

Good food in a great location. Managed to get a table outside overlooking the river. Very busy but still had good service and food. Would highly recommend this tea shop and would return again.

My friend and I stopped off after our visit to Ambleside on the way back to Greystoke. We had been here 4 years ago for tea and scones and this time didn't disappoint :-) lovely fruit scone, butter, jam and clotted cream with a pot of tea for £4.90 and it was delicious! Lovely fresh scone crunchy on the outside... More

Hi MSB, Thank you for the very kind comments! I love to hear that our efforts entice people to come back. And you've also seen the "newly" renovated café (after unfortunately being flooded back in December). I'm glad you had another enjoyable visit and I hope it's not another 4 years until we see you again! :) More
