Located in the charming town of Grasmere, we booked a table for dinner as it was a Saturday and it sure was a good idea as by the time we left it was almost full. Ordered starters that were quite good (especially the black pudding salad) but for the mains we were both disappointed. I had the Morecombe sea bass... More

We have eaten here many times during our stays in Grasmere, under the previous ownership. Lewis's continues the high standards set with an excellent menu which the chef delivers outstandingly on. The changes to the décor bring a new feel to the bistro which feels warm and welcoming and understand there is more to come. We wish Lewis and his... More

Visited for an evening meal on our first night in Grasmere. The service, food and ambience were all so good that we went back on our second evening. If you want a friendly, cosy restaurant with wine served at perfect temperature and a steak cooked to perfection you can't go wrong here.

We came here last year on our annual trip to the lakes. Enjoyed it so much we wanted come again. Although we did not know it changed hands only 3-4 days before. The food was as good as the previous year and they honoured sara's deals such as bottle of wine before 7. We left feeling well fed and bistro... More

Staff friendly and decor pleasing, however we were disappointed that some of the menu wasn't available i.e. wine and one of the mains and one of the puds. We realise these are popular dishes but to have so many unavailable seems like bad planning, particularly the wine which can be kept. We also found the lamb and green veg to... More

Definitely give Lewis's a go for an evening meal. The menu isn't massive, but there will be something on there you'll enjoy. I recommend the pate and relish to start and the lamb chops with roasties for mains and chocolate brownie and ice cram for pudding. To be honest - the pork mains and the steak also looked especially good.... More

We visit Grasmere regularly and thought we would give Lewis's a try, what a gem we uncovered. Although what seemed a Compact menu there was something to satisfy all palettes and appetites. The friendliness and attention of the staff was excellent. The food was served piping hot with all the taste of wholesome locally sourced ingredients for Cumbrian cooking. It... More

Lewis's is a great restaurant in Grasmere in The Lakes District of England! Their food is delicious and clearly very fresh. My wife got the potato and leek soup and it was delicious, I got the chicken and bacon sandwich and it was also great! We had a scone with cream and jam for dessert and it was also VERY... More

Very disappointed with the ham sandwich it was on the menu as a Cumbria honey rested ham. Instead in my opinion it came from a picket so thin you could see through it at £6.45 I think a bit expensive. We started outside they needed wiping down because it had been raining they didn't do this. But it was a... More

Our first visit since new owners took over, and had a great evening. The new decor is uncluttered but the dining room felt cosy and the service is now much improved, we felt very welcome. The food is beautifully presented, and the sea bass was particularly good. Definitely best to book a table in advance.
