5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed yesterday NEW

The details and previous reviews mention the pub and restaurant, we stayed here for five nights, so I'll try to cover all the points. The Ship Inn is located close to Coniston Village and is only a short walk. What most people don't realise is that they can get to and from the pub by following the old railway line,... More

We were staying for a week near the centre of Coniston, which is well provided with good pubs. When out walking we saw the Ship which is about a third of a mile south on the A593. We tried out the Sunday roast which was well cooked and very good value. We liked the food and friendly atmosphere so much,... More

A great pub in the heart of the Lake District. Great atmosphere with really friendly staff, excellent food (very good portions and tremendous value) and good choice of quality ales. Highly recommend this as a stop off on your way around this beautiful area. And the liver and onions is a good choice for evening meal!

Within walking distance of Coniston village, this pub serves good meals at reasonable prices. On the day we went it was crowded, with local as well as tourist trade.

Very good quality pub grub, at very reasonable prices. Steak and ale pies were tasty, as was the game pie. Also good starters - particularly the Morecombe Bay potted shrimps. Very welcoming, friendly and helpful staff. On the edge of the village, but worth going to.

Visited this place with a friend before heading up the old man. We opted for the bluebird ale which was lovely brewed locally too. There's a huge choice of other beers and lagers. We also had a light lunch of the chicken sandwich. Sounds plain? It was beautiful. Really well cooked and filling. It came with Apple sauce and stuffing... More

Hi Andy We would love to take the credit for this great review, but it sounds like you've been in another pub in Coniston? We do hope you'll call on us at The Ship Inn some time and try our drinks and food - hopefully you'll be just as complimentary! Regards Julie and Jim More

This historic pub is located very close to Coniston, and has limited off road parking. Both the food and service were excellent. The quantities were of a good size, with a gammon steak not only being thick, covered half the plate. The other meals being served to nearby tables also appeared appetising. Prices were very reasonable, and a good sign... More

We are a traditional English Inn, in the heart of the Lake District offering a warm welcome, helped by a roaring open fire in the cooler months! The bar stocks award-winning cask ales, a selection of fine wines and malt whiskies. We offer classic pub food which is locally-sourced and freshly prepared on the premises. We have Bed and Breakfast accommodation, 2 of the 3 rooms being en-suite.
