The wife was brought up in Cockermouth and we’ve watched it slowly gentrify over the years when we visit. One aspect of gentrification that is entirely positive is you get places like the Coffee Kitchen opening up. The place is utterly faultless – everything is baked in house (including the superb bread) and they’re very serious about their coffee and... More

We stopped here for lunch as we pottered around Cockermouth. What a find, friendly staff, warm welcome, you think there is little space when you first enter, go upstairs is all I can say. A Great find but it needs more signs on the high street to find it. One draw back was the smell of burnt oil which was... More

Behind a tiny frontage there is a world of excellent coffee and food - oh, and delicious teas in transparent tea pots. Also the first Ristretto I have seen in years and the best since Sydney! We were very impressed! The food was tasty too. The only little wrinkle that stopped full stars was the rather strong smell of, perhaps,... More

We went to this coffee shop as a little holiday treat and were not disappointed. Fantastic coffee as it promises, children enjoyed their milkshakes too. The cakes are fantastic and homemade, we enjoyed brownie, flapjack, lemon drizzle and orange cake. All yummy with very helpful staff and reasonably priced. Make sure you go!!!!

We went here for a quiet coffee. I had a chai latte and it was lovely! Great setting, friendly staff. Go upstairs for the best seats. Very relaxed. Well recommended.

I keep on wanting to like here, but ... Arranged to meet friend, and got there first but no tables. Asked the waitress - seemed very young and pretty indifferent, if there might be a table for two coming free - she pointed to the back of the cafe wherethere were two spare seats so I headed there. It turned... More

The place to be for the coffee expert or novice. You are provided with a packed little booklet that will tell you all you need to know, from beans to flavour. The Sumatran was a revelation. Great place!
