A group of 4 of us visited quite late on a Saturday night without a reservation. We received a pleasant welcome and service was very efficient and friendly. The food was tasty and served in good time - definitely recommended.

Called in last Thursday eve but told they were fully booked even though lots of places available, so went to Tarrantellas - perfect as usual. Booked Carlins for the Friday night and walked straight in to our table - lots of waitresses and overall good service from them but misadvised about drinks offers - hey ho - pizzas and burger... Everything in this place is totally delicious, just make sure you try it. My favourite dish was the sea bass, it's Jamie Oliver meets Gordon Ramsey, perfect blend of lemon and herbs.

Having never eaten here before I went with family for a meal out. I couldn't fault my starter of garlic mushrooms or my main of lamb Henry. My only dislike was my pudding. I ordered 'homemade pavlova'. I make pavlova a lot and this was certainly not pavlova. It was two very sweet, hard, shop bought style meringues with a... More

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Monday night with Storm Abigail brewing we chanced upon Carlis's. The Bistro was as you might expect on a Monday night quite quiet and therefore lacked atmosphere but the food served was more than adequate and the choice wide.

Outstanding! We hadn't pre booked & although the restaurant was busy the waiter went out of his way to seat us. He was very apologetic that he had to ask us to choose our meal quickly so that the order would reach the kitchen before a large group arrived. This was only to ensure that we didn't have an excessive... More

Part of Allerdale Court Hotel but I can't review the hotel only the restaurant which is one of the best in Cockermouth. Any chance of a listing under restaurants for this lovely restaurant?
