Only called in for a drink, haven't tried the food for a while - but it was always good. Always clean, tidy and pleasant, not overpriced.

Once again a delicious meal at the Castle Bar, the service was outstanding from young polite staff. Nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile. The food was outstanding and plentiful particularly the lamb Henry which fell off the bone. Well done !!

After a day in the lakes we wondered into the Town Centre and looked this place up as it is recommended by CAMERA. Tried a couple of local real ales and both were well kept and tasty. The place was very clean and the toilets looked like they had been recently refurbished and to a good standard. The number of... More

The food can be very good to good, no particular pattern but it is at worst (using the term relatively) good pub food and at best (most of the time) very good pub food. The beer is always excellent, so well worth a visit if you're in the marketplace area of cockermouth at the right time.
