This was our second visit. Sadly the service we received on this occasion means that we will not return in the future. We placed our order for two meals and 2 drinks. Only one drink arrived but we decided to share it and await the arrival of our meals to request the 2nd drink. After a wait of 15-20 minutes... More

After sauntering around Ambleside on a Sunday afternoon we stumbled across this delightful place for our first scone of the holiday! Ahh what a lovely place to sit and chill, really cosy and great service! We shared a "Sheilas Cottage Cream Tea a fresh scone with clotted cream & jam, a slice of Borrowdale teabread with crumbly Lancashire" with a... More

For thirty years we've been coming here for morning coffee, as well as for meals but were very disappointed to see it closed until lunchtime this year - probably because so many other places have popped up, but we've always loved it here. They were booked up the time we wanted to eat, so didn't have a meal here either... More

I ate at Sheila's Cottage on a Saturday evening following a challenging bike ride with 7 others. A mixed bunch of family and friends, all male aged between 19 - 55.. When I booked, I was politely asked to have a look at the menu and pre-order starters and mains since they produce everything fresh and had to ensure the... More

This was our first visit to Shielas, and well... What a surprise. It was superb. The food was excellent and a special mention to all the staff - well done on managing on an especially busy night. We will be back!

Lovely looking restaurant. Had sandwiches served with crisps and salad and a drink. It was OK. Not outstanding and rather a long wait. Was expensive for what we had.

welcomed back once again by the friendly staff at Sheila s cottage, even providing a bowl of water for the dog by the table, once again the seabass and rice with a fresh dish of vegetables , lovely wine and complemented with a lovely cheeseboard for dessert. highly recommend

The only reason for 3 not 4 stars was the slightly slow service but other than that everything was very good. Early evening options are good and the main menu even better. Previous comments about lack of sauces on dishes seem to have been addressed with both mine and my partners having plenty of sauce in both. Big portions reasonable... More

My friend and I had an evening meal last week. The food was lovely and the service was very good. It's in a quaint location in the centre of Ambleside. I would recommend you give it a try.

We dropped by for a late lunch, delicious sandwiches with very generous portion sizes. Great local beers on tap and allowed our puppy to sit with us. Really delicious local food, great service, dog friendly, can't complain!
