I usually don't give bad feedback (look at my previous reviews), but this place was awful. We bought lunch for 4 people, plus desert (one of which we had to send back), and 3 rounds of drink. In this place, not a small amount of money. I ordered 2 pints at 10 past 6. After they had poured and I... More

The standards of food and service mark this establishment out as above the normal standard for pub grub.

We have visited The Drunken Duck a number of times over the years and have always been impressed with the food and drink choice. So being up in the Lake District for our annual visit I was eager to visit here again. However, on reading the lunchtime menu sheet I was very disappointed at the choice given that on previous... We came here after asking around Tarn howes and although we didn't stay to eat we had a lovely drink with no pressure to move and watched the sun on the valley. We even had the delight of seeing a rainbow and no rain!

Fantastic variety of local beers on tap, suited perfectly to the beautiful view from the outside tables. Visited previously without a dog and had a delicious dinner, only downside this time was visiting with our puppy and dinner not served in bar area so we couldn't stay. Still worth a visit just for drinks if you have a dog with... More

Found at the crossroads where the road from Skelwith Bridge to Hawkshead ferry meets the road from Coniston and Tarn Hows to Ambleside. This is a once great pub in a fabulous location which has been turned into a gastro clone for homesick Londoners. I have known this place since the 1960's. The bar has been gutted and repainted in... It is many years since we have eaten at the Drunken Duck and since then it has established a a very good reputation so we were looking forward to dinner. However we were somewhat disappointed with the range of choices on the menu. There was for example no red meat for the main course except for ox cheek - but... More

The restaurant came highly recommended, but fell far short of expectations! Service was poor and lacking basic knowledge. When the menu states a plural, this denotes more than one, this is not the case with the venison faggots on the specials board (although nothing special about them at all) should have stated the singular! To top this off, I would... More

Booked a table in advance for a Friday evening. We were not disappointed. Started with a beer, which was simply great and then later had a truly tremendous meal. My wife is a veggie and had a mushroom on toast starter, the flavour was outstanding she said. I had beef shin...words cannot describe the flavour...outstanding. My wife had cauliflower, pease...
