We arrived on a freezing cold November lunch time to be greeted by a warm wood burner & lovely atmosphere. On first glance, the limited lunch menu looks almost too 'interesting' & I can well imagine the less adventurous types being put off by its lack of familiar pub dishes. But really don't be. There is a clever chef at... More

Preplanned a stop at the Drunken Duck whilst walking and was pleased we did. By far one of the best Sunday lunches I have had for a while, even though at £16 for Sunday Lunch main course only it is quite pricey it was certainly brilliant quality. Lovely cosy upmarket pub and dog friendly (in parts of the pub) which... More

Hands down the best Sunday roast I've ever had, such a good lunchtime meal! Nice and spacious rooms, plenty of tables and a lot on offer. A must do if your in Ambleside or even the Lakes District!!

Well known pub that has had a reputation for food for many years, some people have complained of a limited menu but miss the point of a country pub with a limited number of covers, any more than the 6 starters or mains mean that food would not be as fresh or seasonal certainly tries had to be avant-garde without... We came across it by chance whilst driving to Tarn Hows. We stopped just for a drink and when we arrived the pub was very quiet however shortly afterwards it started to get busier. The barman was friendly and welcoming and the service was quick. Whilst the menu had some Interesting dishes which sounded more upmarket Michelin style restaurant rather... More

Great place, great food, great views. Accommodation clean, comfy, stylish. Arrived late, great bar, very popular, friendly, tea and coffee brought to the room whenever we called reception. Mains and starters great, deserts were lacking in flavour on both nights we visited. Will be back soon hopefully

Once again we weren't disappointed food is excellent as is the real ale from there own brewery. The dog enjoys curling up under the table which is always a benefit.

We enjoyed a lovely bowl of tomato & Sweet Potato Soup. This pub is very dog friendly , good selection of beers and wine.

Dined here for our anniversary meal last Tuesday and the food was out of this world !! I would recommend a michelin star as we could not fault anything about the food. For starters we had pork cheek with crackling & brisket in breadcrumbs sublime !! Mains we both had pheasant with artichokes & barley out of this world our... More

This is an absolute star of a place. We went for dinner and had a brilliant meal. The food is easily top restaurant quality - it's fresh, original and so delicious. The pub itself is beautiful: real authentic Lake District charm. I can't recommend enough.
