Rattle Gill is another place in the Lakes we have been visiting for years, this time was my first as a vegan and they had several options to choose from their completely vegetarian menu. Not many tables, so you may have to wait but the food is well worth waiting for. Dog and family friendly. Highly recommended.

Small and so very cosy cafe run by an awesome couple. This is my go to place and my recommendation to all friends that come to visit. Delicious home made food and without a doubt the best coffee and cakes in town (and what a variety of cakes they have!). Plus you don't even have to chose just one flavour!... More

Sat outside for a cream tea £8.50 for two people. Scones and loose leaf tea were delicious. The owners are really friendly. Lovely little place in a lovely setting.

We have been in a few times. So cosy and friendly. Lovely coffee. We shared a chocolate brownie this time which was very nice. We have had lunch here before and has always been so nice! All food fresh and homemade!

Went in to refuel after a long walk. Had the cake taster and every one was fantastic. Just a shame the weather didn't allow for sitting outside

Lovely place with charming staff. We enjoyed this place twice on a visit to the Lake District. Super for a light lunch or snack. Great jacket potatoes; my partner had it with veggie chilli - I had it with smoky black beans - both great. Lovely teas and coffees and cakes, including THE BEST brownie!! A hidden gem.

I go here every time I visit the Lake District (once a yr) and Rattle Gill never fails to touch the spot. Lovely welcoming atmosphere (papers & magazines), fabulous looking foods (salads, cakes etc), fun and a delightful couple run the place. Nothing too much trouble and always time for a laugh. I had some fantastic moist carrot cake and,... More

Hidden gem of Ambleside. Great, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and wholesome homemade food. Couldn't ask for much more.
