We ate here to celebrate ours sons graduation, this is one of the more expensive restaurants in Hull & is situated on the marina. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Thursday evening. We ate of the main menu, food was very good albeit portion sizes (especially the starters) were on the small side. Whilst there was essentially nothing wrong... More

Went here with business and it doesn't fail to impress. It's a little pricey on the wine as the bottles they offer are not as good as they make out but all in all it's a great place.

Can’t fault the food, Imaginative menu, very good quality and presented well, therefore a shame that the service we received let it down. Appetiser arrived just within the hour and main course arrived at 1 ¾ hours, we are all for a leisurely meal, having sat down at 7.45pm we finally left over 3 hours later. Also, felt we were... Hull was unexpectedly busy and so we ended up walking out to the marina to find a restaurant for lunch. 1884 came to our rescue. Whilst the main menu was, to be honest very pricy for lunch, the fixed menu at £20 for 2 courses was excellent value. We enjoyed haddock croquettes with a duck egg - v tasty. And... More

Food is very good but there can be a lack of attention to detail. I've been several times and on the whole have been impressed. There was 1 visit were quite a few things weren't right and I wasn't impressed with the service - we had to ask several times for things, food was cold and not as ordered. Other... More

First visit! Very stylish decor. Fairly good choice on the menu. A few more vegetarian options would have been better, but the staff were very helpful in providing choices. Definitely a place for a treat! If I was to say anything negative it would be that I found the place a bit noisy, and found myself having to shout a... More

Fantastic New Year's Eve at 1884! James, Ann Marie and all the super friendly team at 1884 made this a memorable occasion and was so impressed went back the next night to see light show and fireworks as Hull launched City of Culture.

Our friend had lunch here on Saturday and raved about it so we decided, having overslept and missed our hotel breakfast, to have a decent lunch before our long journey home. I must admit on first entering the restaurant I was a bit shocked to see a really naff bunch of faux flowers in the bar area ( and later... More

We had not been to stay overnight in Hull since leaving in the 70's so very pleasantly surprised at the change around Princess Quay. The jewel in the Crown must be 1884 and so glad we booked lunch for family on Saturday. Very friendly efficient service and food was nicely prepared and a very prompt service. Note to self not... A very nice restaurant that is perfect for a special occasion. The waiters provide very good service and the food was very tasty. It is a bit pricey, but we each chose from the set menu which meant we got 2 or 3 courses plus a glass of prosecco, making our visit slightly better value. I would definitely recommend this... More
