Great food, wonderfully relaxing!

We visited The Marquis last Sunday with friends and throughly enjoyed the warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere and ambience of this high class eatery. The food is very good and service is excellent. We have been before and will definitely go again. Superb!

Never like to say a restaurant is average but both my wife and myself did expect more from the hotel restaurant. Food was well cooked and tasty but nothing special on the plate. The 2 Staff on duty were extremely kind but had so much to do, not only in the restaurant but also in the bar that one could... More

We love going to the marquis for lunch & dinner. The staff are always so attentive. And the wine & cocktails are always a winner. The food of course is delicious and the menu changes regularly. The portion size is small but still enough and mean you have room for dessert.

We had the 3 Course Lunch Menu: Positives - Really nice atmosphere, excellent service and really fantastic tasty dishes made from local produce. Negatives - In our opinion each of the portions were just too small for a lunch time menu and more a kin to a 6 or 7 course tasting menu - a main of Belly Pork the size... More

This was our 4th visit, and as on previous occasions, we were not disappointed. This is the first time we have been for the set lunch, there was a great choice and all the dishes were excellent, it was also really great value for money. Lovely friendly staff, with a relaxed atmosphere, with surroundings that are a fusion of old... More

The restaurant is a little drive from Dover where we were staying. It's got a pleasant enough dining room and bar area and the staff were attentive. The staff seemed very young. We went for the 4 course tasting menu and the cooking was good. The portion sizes were way too small though and we all left slightly hungry. Some... More

Yes, this was the Public House very close to where I grew up, across the road from my School and now a superb 5* Hotel and Restaurant. There is usually a great atmosphere in the restaurant and I have always experienced really great service. A little expensive, hence my rating.

I can't remember how, but we first stumbled across The Marquis about 4 years ago, we had dogs with us and they said we could not bring them into the hotel, but there are cottages we can rent, so we decided to go for it. We stayed in Grooms Cottage which has a large garden for our dogs to run... More

We booked The Marquis for our New Year's celebration for ourselves and my brother and sister in law who were visiting us for the New Year. What a great choice! From the minute we arrived we were handed a glass of champagne and a warm welcome from all the staff, followed by very individual and delicious canapés. The atmosphere was... More

We spent an absolutely fabulous evening here having one of the various tasting menus that this first class establishment offers. A really super meal, great service with matching wines. We also stayed overnight in one of the superior rooms which was very nicely appointed. Not the first time we have stayed here and it won't be the last which is... More
