Lovely pub inside however food was a let down. 6 of us went for dinner on a Sunday night and we were left a little disappointed. Pate starter had no flavour. Black pudding croquettes had very little black pudding in them. Chicken pie looked very unappetising however I cannot comment on the taste. Mash was lumpy and supposedly had cheese... More

Have been here lots of times, in large groups, and have booked several tables. This was the first time in a while Id visited as a twosome and I was not disappointed. Valentines spirit was certainly present - the staff were attentive yet not obtrusive, leaving us to chat and not 'hovering'. Far from being nosey they allowed us to... More

We had a lovely lunch at The Parrot, I haven't been to this pub for years - it was previously called Simple Simons. Very impressed with the quality of food and presentation. The waiting staff were friendly - definitely a service that came with a smile. Would recommend to others for lunch. Nice atmosphere, very relaxed and nice staff.

Excellent place just off the main part of Canterbury. Was lovely and warm from the chill outside. Food was lovely all fresh and tasty there were 6 of us enjoying celebrating a birthday. We were well looked after and staff were very pleasant and accommodating. If I have one negative it was probably the veggies maybe a little more good... More

We visited this seemingly quiet and quaint public house in late December for their Christmas menu. Wow! The food was amazing! Generous portions, clearly freshly cooked and presented beautifully! We were a party of 8 and every person thoroughly enjoyed every course! The atmosphere was welcoming and all you wanted from a Christmas 'Doo'. The staff, despite being late into... More

The location and building is one of the reasons you like Canterbury - a timbered old building with history associated to the medieval society. We had a meal and was not as great as the good locally grown hopped beer. We enjoyed being in The Parrot and grabbing a beer.

This is a great little pub. The oldest pub in Canterbury and one of the oldest buildings in the town as well. The staff are always friendly and happy to serve and the place always smells lovely thanks to the wood fires. The food is good - better than traditional pub grub with a good variety on offer. It may... More

A warm pub off the tourist track with a cosy atmosphere that captures the character of Canterbury. The staff were friendly and attentive. The posh fish fingers and tartare sauce were good and filling. My husband liked the local ale. We really enjoyed the experience and the food.

The turkey dinner was something you would expect to be served in a prison. Poor quality processed meat, round in shape, never seen a round turkey before!! Insipid gravy, one mini sausage and some average veg. The food on there webiste looks great, however, it is nothing like the food we were served. Very dissapointing meal, which as a real... More
