We came at 5pm to have a meal. The restaurant was completely empty. Our starters were very average, wormed up instead of baked as advertised in the menu. The second course took over half an hour to arrive so we were considering leaving without waiting...More

We’ve been here as a couple, with a group of friends, with my mother (who due to her food allergy, the chef made a different sauce for her from scratch!) and it never fails - great food, great service, lovely venue and ambience. A favourite!

A large crowd of young friends with healthy appetites and thirsty but the staff handled the situation excellently. No one went without anything they wanted even if the had changed their mind several times 😉 I thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a large crowd of...More

We had seen this restaurant on this site and were determined to visit. We didn't book because it looked to be a little distant from the city centre. Looking around the city there was little to attract our attention. So off we went After a...More

No dress code as such beyond suitable for mixed company. Relaxed to smart - whatever suits the occasion.

Description
Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall. Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.
