a great place to spend a warm evening in the centre of Canterbury - very tasty, high quality food served by some of the friendliest and welcoming staff in town. Anf if you arrive before 6.30pm you can get the special, two courses for under 15 GBP. I can recommend the crispy squid for starters, very tasty with a hint... More

We went for dinner and the restaurant looks great and I was really excited to go there. Unfortunately there was not a large choice for vegetarians and I found myself choosing something by elimination rather than by choice and it was a bit disappointing.

Had a great diner this evening. It was very busy (surprisingly for a Monday night), but still service was prompt and good. The restaurant has a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Food was really excellent. Both the starter as well as the mains had a very original Italian character to it. Not your normal pizza or pasta food. Highly recommended.

We've been here a couple of times now and each time we've been impressed with the food, the service, the ambiance and the clientele. Last night we managed to get a last minute table for three which was a blessing as we'd all forgotten to book and normally that's essential. The modules frites were sensational; sweet, fat, as fresh as... More

This eating house was recommended to us by the reception at the Falstaff hotel where we were stopping the night. When we arrived we were greeted with a lovely smile at the door by Holly who looked after us for the evening and nothing was too much trouble , we were made to feel very special. For a starter we... Went to the Café du Soleil last week for the first time and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The location is great - with seating outdoors for those nice sunny days/evenings (when we get them). It is right on the river and easy for a pay-and-display car park - although not a lot of spaces available when I went. The... More

A very good restaurant with attentive staff and a comprehensive menu. The wine menu is also recommended. All in all a very pleasant meal.

Thank Ian G

Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall.

Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.
