Cafe du Soleil is situated beside the river Stour in Canterbury occupying a former 18th century wool store and is accessed by its own bridge over the river. The building was restored with a grant from English Heritage and showcases the extensive use of reclaimed building material from the 14C city wall.

Our cuisine draws influence from Provence in southern France, and from Italy, to create a modern Mediterranean cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons, and much of our food is cooked in our wood burning oven, fed with locally sourced wood from managed forest.

So much to choose!

Waitress was attentive and made many changes to dishes to accomodate a large group of children, eg less herbs, more toppings. So much to choose and all plates emptied apart from one and that was swiftly packaged up to take home ( and finished the rest the next day!). Beautifully presented dishes... read more

Visited this lovely Resturant in Canterbury with family. It's a nice resturaunt, by a stream with access via a little Bridge. There's parking directly outside and a further public carpark only 5mins walk along the stream. The food was well presented, tasty and the service was good too. Certainly worth trying if in Canterbury .

Our small company Christmas meal was booked on the last Friday before Christmas in 2015 when Canterbury was heaving! Never been here before but despite a small delay from a previous booking for our table we all were pleasantly greeted and seated by the efficient and unruffled staff. The food was all pre-booked and came out with each persons name... More

Popped into cafe de soleil at the recommendation of one of my friends and was not disappointed. Started my meal with a lovely IPA and beef carpaccio which was STUNNING. My other half had the same and it was met with equal enthusiasm. I had a lamb dish for my main which was equally lovely as my starter and cooked... More

We had told our friends that we were having a secret retirement party, that I didn't know about, so they all arrived thinking they were just having lunch. We booked the upstairs room so it was private. Normally you have to pre-order for a large group, so we had ordered a selection of food, and the staff came up with... More

I spotted Cafe du Soleil one day when I was out with my hubby and thought it looked lovely. When I was put in charge of Christmas do planing I decided to choose here and I'm so glad I did. Unfortunately for the staff some of our number were pretty well oiled by the time we got there, but they... More

The pizza which i ordered tasted and felt like a piece of cardboard. Would not go again. Waiter service quite slow while the draft from the door blows your thoughts away

We went here on a Saturday night. There were 9 of us including a five and a three year old. Our group included people in their 60s, 50s, 40s, 30s and 20s so tastes and requirements varied! We all left very satisfied. Of all the dishes ordered only the Bouillibase starter was below average. Everything else was great. The pizzas... More

Had an evening with my family and partner, all had fabulous meals. I had the beef brisket which was amazing! My partner had the duck and also said it was the best he's had in a long time. Our waitress went above and beyond too meet to everyone taste by telling us what she recommended to what we liked. Very... More

I was quiet close to give this place a good review but unfortunately few dissapointing details ruined everything. As you enter the restaurant you actually think picking this place was a good decision. Old building by the river gives a really good impression. Decor inside is a combination of a brick and wood which looks great together. Overall it is... More
