Had a late lunch here, whilst on a day trip. Had the Indian burrito which was full of flavour and very filling. Good and different range on the menu and excellent value.

Lovely building, seating up two rickety flights of stairs, waitress service to the table. Caesar chicken baguette and a spicy chicken salad (huge....), crisps, scone with jam and cream, pot of tea and a coke, all for under £15. Took a few minutes to arrive indicating everything is freshly prepared. What's not to like. Highly recommended!

the range of choices at canteen are extensive with the option to change everything on the menu to your own specific taste. The price was great for the quality and the staff where more than helpful

Literally the worst sandwich I've had in my entire life. DO NOT order the Bombay chicken, it is utterly flavourless, devoid of all seasoning and spice and served with a limp, impotent, pointless chutney. Ugh!

Sorry you did not enjoy our food but as you see from our numerous good reviews many, many customers really enjoy our food, so perhaps it is just not to your taste. We are NOT a fast food chain and therefore at busy times service may be a little slower than you may expect. I will happily refund your money... More

This place offers quick, fresh and healthy food which we thought ticked all the boxes as there's something for everyone - flatbreads, salads, baguettes, toasties, jackets, burritos, etc. It's a nice little building, split over three floors and very close to the amazing Canterbury cathedral. Not only can you eat-in and takeaway but they can potentially deliver locally too if... More

I went with my daughter, just for tea and a fresh juice, which were fantastic. We didn't realise however, that the cafe was closing, but they let us sit upstairs and relax for about 45 minutes after they closed. Fantastic

I don't like big chains restaurants and this is definitely not this kind of place, which is very nice. The food was really lovely and prices are very correct for Canterbury. My houmous and falafel salad was really tasty. My friends enjoyed their jacket potatoes, only downside: I would put some kind of dressing on the salad accompanying the potatoes...

I visited here with my 2 daughters (aged 7 and 16), one of whom is a vegetarian. We had a really nice lunch with everything freshly made the way we wanted. The service was really friendly and efficient. It was nice to sit upstairs away from everyone walking past. Great atmosphere and great food!!

Thank Joanna B

Just three doors to the left of Canterbury Cathedral Gate Canteen serves freshly made flatbreads, salads, baguettes, toasties, jacket potatos and daily hot dish / soup. Everything is made to order from freshly prepared ingredients using local suppliers wherever possible. The building dates back to around 1600 and from the windows you can get glimpses of the Cathedral (particularly from the loo !). It is a rather rickety building so you need to be OK with stairs as our seating is over three floors. We provide eat in or take away food and a large variety of hot and cold drinks including smoothies and juice pressed on the premises. Due to popularity we also now serve delicious cream teas.
