Reviewed yesterday NEW

Visited for dinner, but with the expection of the bar staff and Carvery carver, didn't see any one else. Bar staff seemed really stressed. Bar staff were really helpful, reserving a table for us and putting the ramps out for my disabled son. Food was good and hot, but meat portion small. Also they ran out of turkey. I understand... First time at the sloop since being taken over by stonehouse, Arrived and found table still with dirty with plates on it, the few staff on duty seem very untrained. ordered our meal with drinks,, , queued for more than 20 mins for carvery, 1 man carving meats, running out of potatoes and other veg twice while I was waiting.... Have been visiting The Sloop for years now as it's a quick and cheap option for a roast dinner. Always been average to good quality and under £5.... but now gone over the £5 !! The place has been refurbished and items added to the menu including a pizza bar. Haven't tried the pizza yet but will be down to... More

Pub looks very attractive from outside with views of the estuary. Unfortunately the inside has been hideously transformed. Starting with the bar. Queuing ropes like a 1950s theatre are not a good sign with only 2 people at the bar, totally unnecessary. Carvery looked reasonably priced and a lot of locals were eating from that. We ordered 2 platters across... More

Booked a table which was a good job as it was very busy, I had problems finding a car park space which took around 10 minutes, once inside table was ready for us, we got drinks which are very reasonably priced compared to other island pubs. We all chose different meals, 2 starters which were brought straight to the table... More

This has always been a great place to eat for under a fiver when I visit my friend on the island a couple of times a year. Sadly now under new ownership, carvery more expensive but still less than anything on the mainland. I looked at the drinks list at the bar and ordered a Becks, asked if it was... More

Have been many times to the Carvery and you get what you pay for. Last night 5 of us went to try the new Pizza Bar. We arrived got a table and bought drinks, checked the menu and ordered 5 Pizzas, it was 50 minute wait, bit long but ok. Pizzas were very nice but salad bar trays mostly empty.... More

Visiting this cheap eatery was initiated by my niece who is a vegetarian and indeed for her it's a great value of money, with a salad bar, warm veggies, different potatoes, and all of this on an "all you can eat" concept for only 4,50 pounds!! We tried the small carvery at only 0,50 pence more... but have to say... More
