We are here on vacation from America and our friends brought us here for Sunday lunch. The food was awesome!!! I wanted to try the shepherds pie but it wasn't on the menu and the chef made me one! It was so good!! My husband had the roasted lamb which was so good! Friends had roast beef and the roast... More

We visited with a local friend for lunch. A cosy pub with a great collection of interesting decor and a good range of drinks. It feels like a local pub, not one of those chain pubs with no heart. Worth seeking out for lunch or dinner.

We managed to book a room at this amazing pub in the centre of Winchester situated in a quiet back street close to the cathedral The pub is full of character and the staff are very amiable and helpful We dined in the restaurant and the food was superb especially the Wyk Shepherd's pie - best I have ever tasted... "Manners Makyth Man" says the sign above the fireplace at the Wykeham Arms. It's the motto of Winchester College of course, but I'm encouraged that here it's urging patrons to refrain from mobile phone conversations. That heartens me. It suggests that the owners would like us to soak up the atmosphere of their old corner pub and enjoy their food.... More

Dropped in whilst on business with clients and enjoyed a few beers and crisps. Then we moved to the dining room where service was less than desirable and the food average at best for dinner. It would appear for a pub they they are trying to be something else but failing at that - this isn't fine dining so don't... More

We were looking for a hotel with character and certainly found it. Staff were friendly and helpful from arrival and took good care of us throughout. Room was clean, comfy and the welcome beer was a really nice touch. Perfect central location and local bar with an impressive range of beers on tap. Would highly recommend a stay here.

The head chef is a young Australian woman who produces with her team some excellent dishes. The menu is relatively small but that guarantees freshness and seasonal influence. We have had salmon and trout dishes and apple sorbet for dessert. Each single dish a delight. The wine list offers a good choice of international as well as national wines. Very... More

This is a lovely pub with a good selection of ales. The restaurant section is very cosy and comfortable. There were some positives. The soup was delicious and the set menu is very good value. Desserts are always very good here too. However, both this time and last time I visited, my main dish was pretty poor. All elements were... More
