Good service, pleasant food. Had a nice jerk quail starter that had a good level of spice. A good burger and my fellow dinner had a decent plate of fish and chips (large portion) . Neither cheap nor particularly expensive. It would be good in a large group. A lively bar with a good range or beer. Reasonable wine list.

This is a very historic pub off the beaten track in Winchester so you have to know where it is. I have been there when I worked in the city some years ago and wanted to revisit. It is very charming inside with lots of eclectic decoration and nooks and crannies. It serves Fullers beer which is why I wanted... More

Lovely looking pub, nice beer, nice sausages, but a bit snobbish. The barman didn't seem bothered with a non regular - no welcome, no smile. Worth walking beyond to the Queen Inn or turning toward the Black Boy where staff are friendly.

If you're in Winchester please visit this wonderful pub / restaurant / hotel. It's steeped in character, serves great beers and good food. You can enjoy sitting outside, or in one of the several rooms within this idyllic place. Try the Cottage Pie, it's amazing ! This is a must try !

An excellent and very comfortable pub/restaurant very near Winchester town centre and within 15 minutes walk of the station. Met with old friends and had an excellent lunch. Window seat and very cosy and atmospheric. Lunch very good. Bass was not particularly big and be careful if you eat off the non a la carte menu. For some reason some... More

The title says it all. Lovely place, one minutes walk from the cathedral. No faults. TripAdvisor says I need 100 characters though so here's some unnecessary words.

Last time we came here for dinner we said we should go more often because it was lovely. Same thing this time, the food was delicious, it really was. It is a quaint beautiful characterful pub. Accessibility for wheelchair users is via the car park and the doorways are narrow so quite challenging. The staff are very helpful though and... More

Met this week with clients who booked table. Venue is superb, would though warn very noisy. Menu very English which is great. Ordered speciality cottage pie. Very good but no picked cabbage or pickled beet room. Perhaps a northern thing. Superb range of wines and beers. Really want to go back with my family.

What a find, completely fell upon it as well. Decided to stay for a meal after watching the food being delivered. Staff were really friendly, helpful and the service was excellent. Food was quite refined, maybe if I was picky I would say small portions for the money but the flavours were excellent. Dessert were stand out the best and... More
