We visited on a Saturday night with friends. The food was very good indeed - we had squid, chicken parfait, rabbit and pork. The picture is the gurnard with lobster bisque. Mmm! A great wine selection too. Although the restaurant was full, the atmosphere was very romantic and hushed tones.

Excellent food Service although ok could be improved greatly .For the money you pay I'd expect a more defined serving at the table .

Excellent as always, ate from the lunchtime special offer menu, and ordered a nice red wine a very nice Pinot noir. Spend was less than we both thought it would be so great value for money!

We went for lunch, and I must say the food, atmosphere and service were excellent. It's a fine dining experience, but with a more casual and relaxed service, which I like. The food was excellent, I had the cauliflower to start and then the Gunard. Also a very good wine list. We liked it so much, we're going back again... More

A restaurant in an historic building of much character. Service was particularly slow but friendly. Fish dishes were reasonably good and flavoursome. Odd to serve red cabbage with the fish main course. The bar had run out of some drinks. An interesting place to visit but Rick Stein's is the better choice for good food.

There are plenty of good places to eat in Winchester but, for us, this place wins hands down. Absolutely charming historic venue. Decent service. Amazing food, cooked and presented to a very high standard. A gentle trout starter, and a full-flavoured chicken parfait starter set us up well. Rich and tender braised ox cheeks were as good as you get,... More

Business lunch for two hungry chaps. Great food, extensive wine list, laid back service, decor slightly faded bordering on jaded, extremely reasonable price. Both of us had a great lunch, good portion size and enjoyed ourselves immensely Highly recommend

We booked a table for a Saturday evening as a valentines date. The building seems to be quite old, it had a lovely fire and the decor was very rustic. The place has a lot of character. The food itself was wonderful. It's very reasonably priced for the quality and we really enjoyed every course. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food.... More

The restaurant is in a lovely old building full of character. The menu was really varied and catered for most people's requirements. The service was excellent and great care was taken by the staff to make the tables look nice. The food was delicious, well worth a visit.
