On Saturday early evening prior to attending the Ballet at the Mayflower we pre booked a table at Gusto lounge. Sadly we were shown to our table on the first floor. The tired appearance of the badly worn carpet on the stairs was not good. The Restaurant was fairly busy with others also going to the Mayflower. On previous visits... More

Arrived early we were shown to a table in the corner, asked to sit by the window, no problem. Lovely chat with the owner, few giggles due to the new waiter not understanding what we wanted, amazing how holiday Italian comes back to help lol. Food was beautiful, def going again. Only one little niggle it was so cold in... More

This is a very good restaurant in a handy location just opposite the Mayflower Theatre. A well priced fixed menu with a good choice of dishes.

My wife and myself decided to book a table before attending a show at the adjacent Mayflower Theatre, having last eaten here 17 years ago when the experience was very good. The restaurant has obviously changed a lot in that time but we did not expect the changes to be so dramatic. On entering the downstairs bar area we were... More

Visited here Saturday for dinner. Loved the fact that we had a huge oval table to accommodate us all. Very nice ambient inside Staff relaxed but super efficient. Drinks arrived promptly.... and then some lovely olives and bread arrived. Very gratefully received by us as we were waiting for a few late arrivals! I ordered the Arancini followed by Salmon... Took a chance and didn't book anywhere before a show at The Mayflower. About 6 eateries nearby so looked at each menu. My wife loves Italian food so the vote was for Gusto. Very friendly greet and found a nice table upstairs. It was a bit dark in the corner we were in and I felt sorry for the 2... More

I visited the Gusto Lounge with a friend on the way to see Southampton play a European Match. We had a drink down stairs and then joined diners upstairs. They had a fixed price menu which was great value for money. Having a starter of Beef Carpaccio which was great I followed it with Penne Grandchino which I have to... More

Ate here in the evening when the theatre was closed so it was pretty quiet. Menu was ok but a little limited and some items they had run out of 2which limited choice even further Decor and ambience was unusual and felt more like a bar than a restaurant whether that's good or bad I will leave you to decide.... Description
Gusto Lounge Bar & Bistro is at the heart of Southampton's cultural centre and the gateway to the City.

If you are a visitor to the city using the busy central station, the ever popular Mayflower theatre which is home to most of the biggest west end musicals and plays or the newly opened sea city and titanic museum you will find us ideally placed.

Our lounge bar is located on the ground floor. This is a casual dining environment. The ‘All Day Menu’ is served here on a walk in only basis; so casually walk in, sit down and then order at the bar.

Our Bistro is located on our first floor; here you can enjoy a more formal dining experience. Between 5 – 7 pm, the kitchen prioritises the Bistro due to the proximity of The Mayflower, so particularly if you’re a theatre visitor, this is the place to dine.
