I have tried to post this review three times ! As I’ve said visiting the Old Custom House is like going to see friends , John (the main man) a total professional and a great personality. Laura, Kim, Chelsea, Jodie and Celtie all like family...so polite and friendly. The whole experience is a total pleasure, good food, great location and super staff. Comfortable rooms and a beauty saloon soon to be re opened. Got to speak to the bosses , lots of plans for the future. In all honesty this is the only place we will ever stay in Padstow, we will be back soon and if we couldn’t get booked there we probably would not go. See you again.More

Went for lunch and a pint with a friend over from Luxembourg. Convenient place to meet and usually reliable. Went between Christmas and NYE, ordered a prawn sandwich with chips. Chips were cold and it was difficult to get any waiting staff's attention to point...it out. You can order online at any table and the food and drink just arrives but no one then checks on you. The chips were probably cooked for another order and the leftovers put on my order. Dissappointing and it wasn't cheap either.More

2 undrinkable mulled wines, hopping for something warm, slightly sweet and wanting more. These were awful and pricey.

A large group of friends including children attended for our Christmas meet up. The venue itself is gorgeous and I love that they have so many different rooms that you can request depending on party size. The staff were exceptionally friendly and hardworking. The menu...was mixed some dishes were really tasty, but others were lacklustre.More

Team Christmas gathering - was great to choose our menu rather than an A La Carte Christmas choice. Food was fab - the burgers going down particularly well. Many thanks the Andrea & her team for looking after us so well and to Deneetta for...her patience & attention throughout the evening.More

Tried to get into the cosy club but it was full so settled on this fullers bar. Always love the look of the place but should know better than to judge a book by its cover. Service was really good and the staff very helpful...and friendly. Sadly the food didn’t come up to the same standard. Very expensive for what you get.More

Shown to pre-booked table. Drinks order taken quickly and arrived in no time. Food order placed which did take some time to come. However it was a busy lunch time service,so understandable. We had 2 roasts and a daily pie which were all plentiful and...delicious. Could have been a bit hotter but that’s personal preference. 2 pud’s and a coffee from a good selection of desserts. Would return for another visitMore

Disappointing fish and chips - fish dry, chips over cooked. I had finished my meal by the time the shepherds pie arrived - doesn’t not lend itself to a pleasant dining experience - I’ll walk around to the Still and West next time - better...view, better food - same chain - go figure!More

Don't like to do bad reviews, but the food we had today was awful. Wife and I both ordered the Fish pie with seasonal greens. Turned up and the pie looked ok, but the seasonal greens consisted of virtually uncooked parsnip cubes and peas that...were not even Luke warm. Complained about them to the waiter, but as we were on a limited time and were also hungry decided to continue with just eating the pie. Have to say the worst fish pie I have tasted. Not a huge amount of actual fish (neither of us found any actual salmon) and just had a strange taste to it, a bit chemically? Fish pie flavour has been repeating all evening and left me feeling quite nauseous.More

Our first visit for several years. It is not cheap but well worth the price. The staff were efficient and friendly. Use of the pre-ordering facility helped speed things up. Outstanding sunday roast. The fish pie special was commented on by our party as very...good. Would use it again. Well worth a visit. Packed out as well.More

A lovely building both outside and inside, very pleasant rooms with great and very varied decor. And now for the food. Excellent is the word, my Caesar Salad was very well stocked with Ham and very crunchy lettuce in a tasty sauce. Our friends had...the Sausage sharing dish which would have fed the four of us. Lastly my wife had a croque monsieur which she throughly enjoyed. The Fullers beer range rounded the lunch off perfectly. Very helpful and efficient Staff in attendance. Memorable lunch at a reasonable price.More

There were 30 of us who had a meeting upstairs with tea and coffee water all day. Totally faultless. Great room. Looked after all day. Paulina was excellent. Finished about 6pm so went to hotel for a shower etc. We had eaten in here the...night before and everyone said how good it was. After a few drinks later we realised it was 8.55pm, kitchen closed at 9pm! In a blind, starving panic I asked could 14 of us order food, waiting for the customary, “sorry you are too late” but was told, order away. By 9.15pm! All meals well delivered, fresh, hot, tasty and well presented! These included fish (more like whale it was so big)! and chips, cottage pie, fish pies, burgers and a caesar salad. Seriously ALL of were amazed and all 14 plates were clean! Over 2 days this place served us very well….in fact I hunted the chef and manager down to say how pleased we were.More
