Went for a late Sunday lunch yesterday. Roast lamb and multiple vegetables. Actually too much for us to eat. 😀 Also went the previous week for my partners birthday. This is a regular for us as the food is great and the staff are really...helpful and make us feel really welcome. To top it all we can take our dog.More

Went for a chilled couple of drinks. Made the mistake of ordering food. Don’t! Scallops were not fit for consumption so the “chef” drizzled a copious amount of balsamic vinegar all over them. Just plain wrong and not on the menu. We did not want...to make a fuss but assumed that as they were not eaten and we told the waitress how awful they were, we would not be charged. Wrong! I mentioned this to the alleged manager. She got very angry. Started bashing her nails on the bar and telling me how long she’d been managing pubs for. 17 years apparently. A little shocking because she was obviously incapable of discussion. When I thought it couldn’t get worse they complained to a family next to us for having fun. They were just enjoying themselves, nothing more and no problem to anyone else. The staff, not the manager, then produced a solicitors letter pertaining to why you can’t have fun in a pub anymore. Well done the staff of The Bridge, especially the manager. You took my low expectations and took them to depths I’d not considered. One last thing, the picture in the gents toilet is inappropriate and not what is expected in 2020. Get rid!More

My 92yo friend was made to walk from the tables at the front of the pub, to entrance at the back in order to enter the premises. There was a one way system in place, but the staff easily could have stood and allowed a...man who struggles to walk entry through this way. But no. They didn't seem bothered in the slightest. As for the food.....we were a party of 5. Two meals were deemed nice. Both a Dover sole dish. The huge burgers were overcooked and over salty. The mussels were smashed to bits. They said it was probably done on the boat!! Why had the chef not excluded them? I was told that they would be taken off the bill. One hundred pounds was the cost of this. And my 92yo friend insisted that I have £10 tip. (He was paying). But, for me the service was very poor. As was the standard of the food.More

Thank you for friendly and efficient service. You didn't know that we had just had a bad attitude from another pub around the corner, so we appreciated your welcome.

I spotted The Bridge Tavern purely because I was walking around Old Portsmouth to go to the Spice Island Inn, having noticed that from the Spinnaker Tower. Looked like a good pub for a beer, and I was right. I arrived on a Monday night...just as Storm Francis was hitting. The heavens opened so what could I do but spend a coupe of hours in here? I had a seat by the bar, Birra Moretti on the go and felt both Covid-safe and safe enough to leave my shopping unattended while popping to the loo. Loved the old-fashioned feel inside too and on a nicer day I'd absolutely love to sit outside here and watch the fishing boats come in and out while having a beer. A pub I'll return to whenever I'm next in Pompey.More

This pub was recommended to us and we are so glad we took their advice. It’s a beautiful independent pub and the food is amazing. It is located right next to a port with nice outdoor seating available. The food was home made and beautiful!...I enjoyed fresh scallops that were caught that day, and wow the best I’ve ever had. It is definitely worth a visit!!More
