Delicious dairy free and vegan/vegetarian options. The soup's always change and are always delicious. Lots of dairy free milk choices. My favourite is their soya latte, which is slightly watery but still a great coffee. Their bread is thick and wholemeal so very healthy yet delicious.

Enjoyed a flavoursome vegetarian breakfast plus good cappuccino in the sun. Highlights were the (Unami) flavour of the mushrooms, great scrambled eggs on toasted sourdough. Usual a bit different Star Anise atmosphere which makes this the cafe of choice in Stroud.

Great veggie food and at a really good price too. Earlier in the day we went to another vegetarian cafe for breakfast which sadly served up cheap sliced brown bread and weak milky coffee. After this disappointing experience we were rather pleased to find the food at the Star Anise was of a high standard and really tasty. The Star... More

Visited on a Friday night with friends specifically to see Woman Wants Tall Man playing. The café is bright and modern with plenty of artwork on the walls. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was delicious, the very best of vegetarian fare. Being a special music night the price on the door included a plate of food and... More

We had lunch here, delighted to find vegan options for both main meal and dessert. Friendly and fast service, good and varied menu. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

Wonderfully different veggie food, freshly prepared with sparkling flavours. A very welcome recommendation from a friend who lives nearby.

- and actually, in the case of the Star Anise, delicious. No, really. It takes a serious chef to make a big plateful of vegetables mouth-watering, but this guy does it, again and again. My picture of today’s menu didn’t come out that well, but I had feta & thyme potato cakes, with parsley & preserved lemon; with mushroom sauce,... More

The choice of food is always exciting - vegetarian cuisine at it's best. I often get a take away for lunch and grab a gluten free cake on my way out. A real treat and a proper Stroud eatery. Keep up the great food and cracking service, Star Anise!

We had a good meal - great to have the option of a small fish & chips for husband with a small appetite. Rather a lot of children despite it being school hours, which was a bit aggravating but obviously can't be helped. We commented on the huge cobwebs above our seats, which hopefully have been addressed now.
