Great location near the centre of the montpellier area of Cheltenham with ample parking in the vacinity. Booked in for Sunday lunch and the food and service was excellent. This is our third time of dining there with different friends who have been vegan and gluten intolerant and the staff were brilliant in ensuring that the food and dietary requirements... More

The food was good but expensive. The service left a lot to be desired. Had to ask for a spoon to eat soup. Veg did not arrive with dinner. I had to eat my spaghetti with a knife and fork still no spoons. We asked for bread and were told by a waiter in a dirty shirt that we would... More

Cannot understand the bad comments - meal wonderful as always. You have to make allowances for mistakes that happen but I stress there were none when we were there --- as always.Ignore bad comments --- come and use the place if only once! Staff very peasant and attentive. Best steak I have had for a long time in a restaurant

We were a large party and although the service was not bad - they continually made mistakes, from the starters, through the mains and even with the bill. Food was quite good, but I really object to expensive bottled water - especially when the tops were removed from every bottle that they placed on the table when we asked for... More

Delicious afternoon tea, but service so slow we had drunk all our tea by the time the food arrived, which was also missing two cakes. Provided with extra tea and extra cake, but expected better from what appears a very upmarket establishment.

We had dinner here and breakfast during our stay. it was faultless. The service is very friendly, attentive and not over bearing. The food is lovely, breakfast buffet is expansive with beautiful fresh pastries and fruits and the cooked breakfast and benedict eggs was amazing. The food at dinner was equally impressive, hard to choose just one dish on the... More

I have eaten here twice in the last 10 days with different people and enjoyed both evenings but the service is slightly off possibly because there are either training issues or staff shortages or both. The menu is relatively short which I like and pretty good value There is an emphasis on seasonal produce . The kitchen is open to... More

Visited for dinner on a Saturday evening during the Jazz Festival. Hotel restaurant but has the feel of a stand alone restaurant. Smart and stylish layout. Service for us was excellent - even though the place was busy and we had been nervous about getting out in time for our concert. Menus arrived, orders taken and food delivered all at... More

Food was good quality and fresh, however, the service was very slow and not as good as expected. They also made mistakes on the bill which was annoying. Probably better when not busy. Staff not able to cope when busy.

Description
The landmark Regency building housing The Montpellier Chapter is a glorious setting for dinner and drinks. The most perfect fusion of old and new, traditional and contemporary, The Montpellier Chapter hotel has been restored to its former glory and given a designer style facelift, its stunning new look evident nowhere so much as in its superb restaurant. Parquet flooring, simple painted walls, sinuously lined furniture and carefully thought out mood lighting do little to distract from the main event The Montpellier Chapters food. Prepared in the restaurants open kitchen with its beech clay oven, dishes are seasonal British favourites with a firmly classical flavour and local ingredients used wherever possible. Award winning head chef Tom Rains is very much led by inspirational cook and food writer Simon Hopkinson (Roast Chicken and Other Stories) and his philosophy of thoughtfully prepared food. The results are stunning; simple and delicious at once. Open from 10am The Montpellier Chapters bar is the ideal setting for not only an aperitif but morning coffee, afternoon tea or a drink and a catch up with friends.
