We have already visited the Margate Ambrette and loved it, so we combined a birthday night away in Rye with a lunch here- it did not disappoint. The setting was lovely- we sat next to the French doors which open completely with a backdrop of the local historic monastery. We ate from the set lunch menu which was delicious, and... More

This is our second visit and our first visit to their new location. The food didn't disappoint. Beautifully presented, tasty dishes with the nice touch of small treats in between courses. Two things stopped me from giving it top marks - the decor is really bland. It needs some pictures and soft furnishings as it currently looks like they have... More

The food was a wonderfully unexpected fusion of traditional and Indian flavours. The venison was especially good. We were given several extra taster dishes throughout the evening which was a welcome touch. Excellent, friendly service and a lovely, light conservatory. Expensive, but worth it.

This was a special treat on our last night in Rye and we were very impressed with the immaculate service, fabulous food and extra delights which appeared over the evening. This is a modern Indian fusion cuisine with delicate taste and amazing flavours. Highly recommended.

Delicious fusion food. Beautifully blanked spices and flavours. The restaurant doesn't look so much from the front but at the back it opens up under a glass extension overlooking a 12th century church. Good service and everything you would expect from a fine dining experience with unusual and delicious flavours

This is another restaurant you need to book ahead. They don't over fill the restaurant, but you get excellent food and service, they were very accommodating with my slightly fussy daughter - but actually she really enjoyed the taste experience. The indian flavours were delicious, not hot. we were given a complimentary drink to start and other complimentary courses to... More

2nd visit and the quality of food was as good as the first. The menu is slightly limited which I do prefer as I can confirm the mixed mains we all ordered were fantastic, almost fine dining. The ingredients were great and the presentation first class. This is my first visit in their new location and it is lovely and... More

You know you're in for a good meal when a menu is only two or three pages long. And the Ambrette did not disappoint. Every meal was simply brilliant (to my taste; my wife said she loved it but wished there'd been a little less pepper in the main course). Service was professional and polite; and the place has a... We visited thisrestaurant for a birthday Sunday lunch. Not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Service was good and very attentive. We did not have to wait to be served and there was just enough time between courses. The food was sensational a subtle mix of the spices of India and the traditional Sunday Lunch. Lightly spiced and... More

This restaurant is truly fantastic. We ordered from the A la carte menu and every dish was incredible. Also between every main dish there was a nice little sorbet or spoon dish to bolster the meal. The presentation of every dish was also fantastic. The service was excellent. The waiters worked tirelessly despite being under staffed. This is a really... More
