Change of venue was not for the best, Saying that the food rose to the occasion with a fusion of flavours expertly added to the dishes to compliment the food that was being eaten. 5 stars again for attention of waiters, chefs & service.

Friends had been before, had been at the Ambrette in Canterbury, had been impressed and invited us to join them for Sunday lunch. Everything was excellent, from the complimentary amuse-bouche, through the three-course lunch to the coffee. The combination of roast meat, curry sauce and "Canterbury" pudding worked extremely well (a pity the zebra was out of season!), and the... More

Booked a table for four as we were visiting Rye for the weekend but when we walked into the restaurant it was so hot. Taken to a table in the conservatory which was even hotter. It had been a hot day but there were no fans nor was the conservatory door or window open. We sat for five minutes but... More

I can't fault The Ambrette at Rye. I wanted to take my boyfriend somewhere special for his birthday and I'm so glad I chose The Ambrette. The service was flawless and the menu was very varied- it was hard to choose! The flavours were intense but fresh and combinations unusual. Everything was delicious.

I booked a meal here for four of us on a week's holiday near Rye, for our special night out. It was an excellent choice. The food was really unusual Indian food. I had a dosa with potato curry for starters which looked amazing and tasted gorgeous. We had little treats before the meal and between courses. The atmosphere was... More

Having read the good reviews we were rather excited having to dine in Ambrette on our last night in Rye. Excitement didnt last very long, most of the food we ordered tasted the same. From starter to two complimentary dishes and the mains, its all cumins and lentils. This is not really of a fine dining establishment. We had better... More

We visited early on a Tuesday evening. We had read a few great reviews so expected a lot. Entrance is small, but it opens up in a large restaurant. Waiter and bar man were very professional with good but not overbearing service. The concept is great, Indian flavours but no curries. The dishes we ordered seemed a little over spiced... More

Fab food, very eclectic, loved it. Ignore reviews about poor service and embrace the great food, and now they are serving weekend breakfasts, can't wait.

We'd tried to get in here unannounced before, this time we made a booking for a Wednesday evening and the place was quiet, a few tables taken with the resulting quiet atmosphere, which we enjoyed. We tried the 'Tasting Menu', not cheap but well worth the effort, we had a relaxed three hour meal with many smallish dishes made well,... More

First visit to Rye, which is quaint but not car friendly. Sat in conservatory area which was lovely although too hot and dazzled by the sun. Perhaps some blinds might help. We had a special Brunch Tasting Menu prior to official rollout which was a real treat to the tastebuds. Every dish was cleverly spiced and had the wow factor... More
