Had dinner in Carey's on Tuesday evening, and overall had a pretty decent time. The missus and I both went for fish - I think that my wife's seabass was a better bet than my sole (well cooked, but needed a little more 'lift' by way of seasoning or sauce), both of which came with a medley of veg (same... Great place to stop and eat after strolling around at the many antique shops. The fish was yummy and service efficient and polite. Decor was very fresh, airy and modern, lots of space, good to not be cramped in and close to other tables like some places.

We had a lunch of mussel and wine. Very good indeed. Good chips, well-prepared mussels (not too salty or creamy). Pleasant atmosphere and very helpful service.

We stumbled across the restaurant after swimming in the sea and we were starving. They were offering 1KG of fresh muscles (yes, 1KG!) It was a no brainier, moule marinière! The food was reasonable, not massively expensive. I'm not sure it really was 1KG (possibly including the plate?). Not Too expensive really.

Rye is crying out for a good, straightforward fish restaurant and I so want to like Carey's. But each time I go, I come away thinking it just wasn't good enough and I won't bother again. Hastings has good places, like White's, but Rye is either fish and chips or overly fancy stuff rather than a good hearty Dover sole... More

Excellent food We had Starters Scallops with Parma ham in a parmesan and rocket salad, whitebait with mixed salad. Mains Fillet of sea bass grilled with leaks and cream safferon sauce Whole sea bass cooked in its own juices stuffed with fennel Complemented by fresh steamed vegetables. Coffee Staff attentive but not intrusive. Definitely return

The atmosphere was lacking, waiting staff ok, but that's all, food mediocre and overpriced. Wouldn't go a second time

My wife & I had dinner at Carey's and managed to park in the small car park outside. The 'L' shaped layout isn't ideal if you want to catch the waiter's (just one) attention because some tables were not fully equipped with condiments. The food was good although the steak ordered 'rare' was definitely 'medium'. Decent sized portions and not... More

Although the restaurant was half empty at 21.15 on a Saturday evening, the atmosphere was great. Food - I had scallops and mussels with a side of chips, my husband had a huge piece of local lamb on mash with veg. The glass of Pinot Grigio was of good quality and went perfectly with my seafood. All food was of... More
