On the banks of the Ouse, 200 yards from the Brewery with an olde world charm but a modern feel. Harvey's ales are as good as many small brewery droughts and better than most. Sadly, I am experienced and have never had anything like the Malt Brown. It is dark, sweet, nutty and tastes of molasses. Like a more tasty... More

Hi Paul, Thank you so much for your kind words. I have to say, I am in total agreement with you about the Malt Brown. I wasn't sure how it would translate to Keg, but it is a delight! Hopefully we see you again soon. Kind regards, Mitch More

We stopped here for an evening meal and enjoyed an excellent pint of the local beer and an enjoyable meal in a lovely old pub. The staff were excellent. The food was well cooked, plentiful and arrived promptly. Good value for money.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and thought we would try the John Harvey Tavern. We had often seen the pub with plenty of people sat outside enjoying the pub but never ventured down but very glad we did. Lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff and good service. Menu suited us and prices really fair so all round we... More

We sometimes call here for lunch and it suits us, and the dog! , very well, There are a wide variety of snacks and main courses as well as good starters. On our last visit I had sardines on tomato salsa on whole meal toast---- absolutely delicious, £6.25 and more than adequate as a snack lunch. The sandwiches are served... More

This is quite a nice pub with pleasant staff. I booked a table a few days for 2 people and a dog. The staff confirmed this when we arrived then proceeded to tell us they had a nice table for us upstairs where you can't take dogs. Our starters were fine - main courses though were just strange particularly my... More

We visited Lewes today and wanted to have lunch out, after walking around for a while we came across this pub just over the bridge in the town centre so decided to stop. There was plenty of seating outside although there was a car park opposite this did not detract us from stopping, Mainly because we had our dog with... More

New owners seem to be milking the price for what is now mediocre food. Use to be great - will now search for something less bistro for what it used to be - a pub to recommend. Strangely empty at lunch today -perhaps we aren't the only ones who are disappointed !

Had a good lunch here today. We went to the pub just before midday and it was quite busy with drinkers then, we sat in the Tap room as the other bar the Lewes room was filling up with families with quite young children, nothing against that but we preferred somewhere a little quieter, there is space above the main...
