I've heard lots of good reviews for this place but I have to say I was disappointed with both the food and the service. Friends of mine ordered the sharing platter and were told that the bread basket would follow, which it didn't. I ordered the soup, which took a good 30 minutes to arrive and was pretty bland when... Luckily we managed to get a table (admittedly outside) without a booking on a Saturday night. Staff were busy, but friendly and the menu had a good selection of veggie dishes. I had the halloumi and portobello burger with wedges which was tasty and they made us Expresso Martinis which weren't actually on the cocktail list, but they offered to... More

Been here twice and both times were brilliant!! Had different starters both times and had the burger twice! So delicious and the flavours of the food are amazing. Delightful service as well. If you're looking for something a little different than a chain restaurant then this is the place to go!

I'm not usually a fan of most vegetarian restaurants as their menus are usually mostly based around cheese, and this place is no different. On my visit there was only one vegan main available. It was a coconut-based pea curry, which sounded nice, however when I tried it it had a weird slimy texture and an unusual taste. It also... More

I visited Food for Friends on Friday with my son. It was a really pleasant experience. The food was fabulous, the surroundings unpretentious and the staff attentive without being overly so. I usually have a glass of wine with my meal, but selected a soft drink instead because of the unique range, finally choosing a Madagascan soda water.

I have been vegetarian since the 1980's and food for friends was a proud bastion and torch of light for vegetarian cooking in a cynical world. I enjoyed large hearty portions for many years in the past at a affordable price for most but unfortunately my recent experiences were disappointing, as portions had shrunk and prices increased considerably. The food... More

Dropped in here early one evening and was lucky to get a table. The food was astonishingly good with layers of flavour in every mouthful I am not a veggy but I do enjoy good food no matter how it labels itself. I had the Halloumi burger and my wife the open raviolli. Both were mouthwateringly good If I could give... More

If you look in the dictionary for carnivore, it,will refer to me! Thus is the first vegetarian restaurant I have ever visited, and based on my experience, it will not be the last. We had an exceptional meal (I had the Halloumi burger) great service and atmosphere. If you are in Brighton you will have a huge choice of places... More

We didn't realise this was a vegetarian restaurant however it's location is bang in the middle of the lanes and from their huge windows you can watch the world go by. Food is beautifully arranged and delicious. Service was friendly and good, slightly slow on the initial drinks. Great place for lunch.

This restaurant was recommended by friends. We stopped by without booking at lunchtime midweek and luckily were able to wait fast couple , of minutes for a table. The food is excellent, staff are friendly and helpful. Both vegans and vegetarians are well cratered for. Would recommend booking a table as this out is a very popular restaurant.

Voted 'Best Restaurant' in the Brighton Foodie Awards 2012Good food Guide 2013Food for Friends restaurant in Brighton has been in the vanguard of vegetarian cuisine for more than twenty five years. Set in The Lanes, Brighton’s most happening district, Food for Friends has slowly spread over three shop fronts, developing a labyrinth of brightly lit, modern dining rooms kitted out with stylish minimalism, some overlooking the bustling lanes outside. Cuisine from around the globe is created using predominantly local, organic ingredients, some delivered by bike. Vegans and those with food allergies and intolerances are well cared for here. Wines are organic and mainly vegan, coffee is fairtrade, and an irresistible afternoon tea is served.
