We often pop into Plateau for drinks - the drinks are delicious, and there's always something new to try, but mainly because the staff are a delight, very knowledgeable, very funny and obviously very passionate about what they do. As the daily menu always looks appealing and well-priced, we decided to book for my father-in-law's special birthday and I'm so... More

We had dinner and drinks in plateau on Friday night because we heard that they have this stupendously talented Swedish bar manager whose knowledge and customer interaction is second to none, and the food wasn't half bad either!!! Tandoori mackerel followed by spiced duck for my boyfriend and I had lamb carpaccio and trout for my main, both excellent but... More

Faultless service and imaginative bread and dips with Dukkah in olive oil . Our main courses the Onglet steak and Mullet both super and the lemon tart was just how a lemon tart should be- a rarity sometimes. I'd recommed the cocktails the 'Corpse reviver' was great and the Pisco punch even better, very good wine list too. We will... More

Based on other trip advisor reviews we decided to give this a shot. My friend and I shared the fish platter and the duck starter, both were amazing. I would highly recommend the fish platter. Had a bottle of wine as well, which paired nicely with the fish. Waiters were very attentive and helpful. Perfect service and fast. We even... More

An intimate lounging dinner at plateau was a treat for my belly and mind. The waiters know their good and wine, enjoy their jobs and create a great atmosphere. Incentive and well cooked meat, akin to a great neighbourhood favourite in Melbourne or New York where you can indulge at leisure. Long may it rein

Cosy , stylish , quirky downstairs ( other rooms available) and on the occasion of our visit seemed to be serving locals and regulars as well as visitors and tourists. Wine list is everything and a bit more than it boasts to be and all the key staff are well informed, smart and to the point. Sharing boards are a... More

You have to love Plateau, it's all about the sharing platters which are plentiful and delicious! It's a great place for lunch with friends or even birthday gatherings. The staff are lovely, knowledgable and very friendly. You don't have to dine, you can sit at the bar, taste the wine and graze. Just perfect

We spent an amazing Saturday afternoon here during The Great Escape music festival. The bar staff were well informed on their drinks and mixed cocktails very well. We drank a Côte de Jura - Pinot Noir but didn't eat any food. The wine was fabulous. We sat on the bar on the left of the main picture, they had the... More

Description
Independent bar à vin, restaurant & cocktail bar based in The Lanes, BrightonWe are a unique bar à vin & restaurant with a passion for great food & wine. We have put a great deal of time & love into selecting our wines. At Plateau you can discover interesting & affordable wines that you are unlikely to see on other local wine lists. Our selection is mostly natural with some biodynamic & organic examples. We have sourced wines from local Sussex producers to renowned names & newcomers. To soak up the wine we serve ‘bites’, small dishes perfect to share or great as a starter. Follow your ‘bites’ with a ‘plateau’ to share or a 'plat' & that’s our dinner experience… although don’t forget dessert! Our chefs source organic, fresh, local produce as much as possible.Did we mention the cocktails? They’re probably the best in town & although we don’t serve Carlsberg we do serve some pretty imaginative beers from around the world. We have some top quality spirits, including some rare rum, whisky & cognac…and I almost forgot, keep an eye out for the ‘cocktail de la semaine’ & ‘beer of the moment’.There is no set way to visit Plateau, you can match the wine to the food or the food to the wine. Pop in just for a drink, a few bites or a three-course meal – the idea is that you do whatever suits you.
