Sunday lunch menus tend to show classic dishes, so I couldn't really judge the creativity or skills of the restaurant's new head chef. But it was a terrific lunch nonetheless. At first we had a tomato consommé as an amuse, which was light, fresh and fragrant. Then I started with a very pretty dish of beetroot and goat's cheese raviolo,... More

but some small mistakes. The dishes follow each other too quickly so you feel full quickly. It's is a pity as the food was really nice but you can't fully enjoy it. The wine pairing was therefor also too fast so you couldn't finish you glass at an easy tempo. All this seems a persistent habit in a lot of British... More

We had the tasting menu with paired wines to celebrate our anniversary. It was beautiful. A well balanced menu that was interesting without being pretentious. Each course was excellent & the wines perfect. Loved the Bluebell British sparkling wine. Relaxed atmosphere and spot on service. Staff really know their stuff & made us feel welcome and service personal. My husband... More

Just wanted to let you know that my wife and I had a fantastic meal last Sunday at Drakes – couldn’t have been better. Everyone we met was most friendly and helpful. The food was superb, the wine excellent, service faultless - highly recommended.

My daughter and I visited the restaurant for lunch, following the reviews on here. The food is as good as several Michelin starred restaurants that I have eaten at and better than some. The highlight for me was the dessert. The Pimms jelly with lime meringue and lemon sorbet was zingy and fabulous. The wine list is interesting too, with... More

Celebrating a friends birthday we ate in the private dining room . Kevin our waiter was very efficient and kept his sense of humour as our party descended into drunkenness .Well done Kevin x ! Food was nice , chef Hungarian I believe ? Our party enjoyed the night , especially the cocktails! 🍸

What a wonderful little hideaway restaurant in the Drakes Hotel. Sweet interiors -- lush, comfortable and nicely appointed. Great lighting and all tables are good! Enough room, which is hard to get in small restaurants in places like London and Brighton--this place was exceptional for a romantic evening--especially since after dinner you can take a stroll along the beach and... Five of us celebrated my son's graduation at The Restaurant at Drake's last night. It was memorable for all the right reasons. The food was imaginative and delicious and we appreciated the tasty little extras served between courses. The starter scallops were excellent, but then so was everything else. Difficult to pick highlights - my brill with clams was lovely,... More

Food was fairly basic , some dishes underseasoned and some dishes looked as if the chef was trying to hard. Pretty expensive also.

Description
Considered by many to be Brightons best restaurant, backed up by its status as the highest scoring local dining room in the Good Food Guide, The Restaurant at Drakes is an elegantly stylish setting for any occasion. Subtle lighting casts moody shadows across exposed brickwork and rich colours throughout the intimate dining room while Drakes cocktail bar offers airy sea views and excellent cocktails. The kitchen team insist on the best of ingredients, fresh and seasonal, including fish bought daily from local fishing boats, to create the excellent, refined menu that has earned the restaurant two AA rosettes. A special place, unpretentious in its warm atmosphere, its easy to see why The Restaurant at Drakes has such a reputation.
