Celebrating a friends birthday we ate in the private dining room . Kevin our waiter was very efficient and kept his sense of humour as our party descended into drunkenness .Well done Kevin x ! Food was nice , chef Hungarian I believe ? Our party enjoyed the night , especially the cocktails! 🍸

What a wonderful little hideaway restaurant in the Drakes Hotel. Sweet interiors -- lush, comfortable and nicely appointed. Great lighting and all tables are good! Enough room, which is hard to get in small restaurants in places like London and Brighton--this place was exceptional for a romantic evening--especially since after dinner you can take a stroll along the beach and... Five of us celebrated my son's graduation at The Restaurant at Drake's last night. It was memorable for all the right reasons. The food was imaginative and delicious and we appreciated the tasty little extras served between courses. The starter scallops were excellent, but then so was everything else. Difficult to pick highlights - my brill with clams was lovely,... More

I went here with friends and we were all well-pleased. The menu was imaginative, the culinary skills excellent, and the service professional.

Food was fairly basic , some dishes underseasoned and some dishes looked as if the chef was trying to hard. Pretty expensive also.

I was looking forward to treating my wife to a fine dining experience and we were both left feeling like it was lacking. Scallops were great but out of a 3 course meal for 2 people that was the only dish that met expectations, and when paying good money for food you don't expect to find yourself saying that. The... Combination on the plate, had conflicting taste. Scallops were nice nothing to write home about with the cauliflower cous cous... A supplement of a further £3. And my partner had a fillet steak which had a supplement of £5. Was not enough.. Over priced, over rated. I expect one bag of lettuce feeds a hundred covers. Must be making a... More

I must say that I did have high expectations regarding the restaurant. Over all the service was good for the price we paid £30 per head . We ordered the Sunday roast menu, the dishes were well presented but it did let me down for the lack of attention from the waiter who served us and for the quality of... More

Dinner for 5 was an amazing experience with an amuse bouche to savour the palate. My daughter and I had a starter of salmon ceviche with walnut and crab salad which was out of this world. Mother in law and wife had scallops with crab and prawns which they said was superb and my daughter's partner had a pork pate... More

Drakes remains one of our favourite Brighton restaurants since moving from London and enjoying some of the top restaurants there. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and the food has always been superb. Certainly a place to go for a special celebration or treat and they serve great cocktails too. We've visited both at lunch (when a special set menu... More

Description
Considered by many to be Brightons best restaurant, backed up by its status as the highest scoring local dining room in the Good Food Guide, The Restaurant at Drakes is an elegantly stylish setting for any occasion. Subtle lighting casts moody shadows across exposed brickwork and rich colours throughout the intimate dining room while Drakes cocktail bar offers airy sea views and excellent cocktails. The kitchen team insist on the best of ingredients, fresh and seasonal, including fish bought daily from local fishing boats, to create the excellent, refined menu that has earned the restaurant two AA rosettes. A special place, unpretentious in its warm atmosphere, its easy to see why The Restaurant at Drakes has such a reputation.
