We had a wonderful squid with chili for starter. Very good! For main course, I had the fish and ships with mashed peas. The fish was delicious, the rest ok. The makrell my wife had was also good, but not great. A restaurant with a great history, I learned (and felt!), and we will go there again.

Gorgeous food. Teenage kids had oysters then perfectly cooked scallops that they loved. Mussels were absolutely gorgeous. Lobster was extremely good as was the whole sea bass. Definitely the best fish restaurant in Brighton. Great Service from the staff and Antonio the manager is very professional and we were made to feel very welcome. Look forward to going back again... What a splendid restaurant this is. Fabulous prawn and haddock fish cake arancines (sauce a touch too spicy perhaps) moules marinieres the best Alison had ever had and succulent zingy chilli squid. Then a rich and delicious prawn scallop and crab burger seabass fillet sole bonne femme and a top rump steak for our fish hating daughter. Our fish loving... More

Visited here with my partner in September and couldn't recommend this place enough. The food is delicious and well presented. The staff are very friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed without being too noticeable. Would definitely visit again.

After twenty years we returned to English's Oyster Restaurant in Brighton Lanes for a romantic lunch. It did not disappoint. We enjoyed a plate of assorted oysters - each different - each delicious, and then could not resist following up with scallops cooked in two different ways. I particularly enjoyed mine with black pudding. Thoughtfully they offer all their mains... More

Four of us eat here on a Friday night (we had booked) and the meal and service were excellent. We had a couple of appetisers while we chatted and chose, then we all had different fish dishes which looked very good. My wife was delighted that first on the menu was gluten free bread abdicate; which was delicious. She had... More

Pleasant fish restaurant in centre of Brighton. There are expensive options but we had the reasonably priced set menu. I had cold beetroot soup followed by sole. We had very nice Polish waitresses. It was a warm late summer evening and eating outside would have been nice but the tables were taken.

Great lunch, fabulous tasting fresh seafood and fish. Lovely warm day so able to sit outside. Very good friendly service. Not cheap but it was a special occasion so we treated ourselves. Would love to visit again

Visited with a group of colleagues for an evening meal. We shared the seafood starter which was excellent, particularly the potted shrimps. I had mussels for main and they were great but I could have done with some bread - which I asked for but never got - for the sauce. The service was very friendly but a bit slow.... More

We didn't have a reservation as we thought we wouldn't need one - the nights before plenty of tables were available - but the manager told us they were booked for the night. He didn't even bother to offer the free table outside, but after inquiring with the waitress we could sit down and order outside. After about 15 minutes... More
