We came here for afternoon tea and were very impressed. The hotel is very quaint and the grounds are absolutely beautiful nestled in the village of Alfriston. The afternoon tea consisted of a hug pot of tea, finger sandwiches (cucumber, salmon, ham and egg) which were filling and tasty. The scone was homemade and came with plentiful supplies of clotted... Me, my husband, my mother and my toddler visited Deans Place for afternoon tea/lunch today. Upon arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who immediately offered us drinks. A particular staff member (Hilary) took the time to get cushions to put behind my baby in the highchair to ensure that he was comfortable. When the food arrived we were very... More

This is for the bar area with beautiful garden views and great service - the tea was very nice and the warm fruit scone, jam and lashings of clotted cream were exquisite. A wonderful place to while away an hour with cake indulgence.

Living social afternoon tea deal. Lovely terrace setting, sandwiches, scone, fruit cake, choux bun, chocolate strawberry and a small lemon tartlet. Choice of teas, and a glass of bubbly, all served by friendly staff. What more could you wish for on a lovely sunny, Sunday afternoon!

We have just returned from having afternoon tea on the terrace at Deans' Place Hotel, and have to say the whole experience - apart from the rather grim looking staff and bin accommodation on the way in - was super from start to finish. Lovely greeting from 'Front of House' team, served a delicious afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking... More

wasn't overly impressed with the £150 a night room, we asked for a double room & we was given two single beds pushed together with the added bonus of stained sheets, we weren't informed about the moth mortuary in the bathroom either. Have to say though really beautiful surroundings the staff were extremely friendly & helpful....But wouldn't pay £150 again!!!

The food was exceptional with a good wine list at reasonable prices. The service was very good. We had a delightful waitress called Raquel. Some of the bedrooms are a little small but comfortable and room 49 has no wifi but the staff are all so lovely and helpful that they make up for any niggles.

Took my wife and daughter to dinner here on a quiet midweek. Very comfortable lounge / bar area to relax and puruse the menu over a drink. Restaurant is spacious and comfortable. We all agreed the food was of a very high standard and mostly exceeded our expectations. Service was impeccable, formal yet relaxed and friendly. A pleasure to experience... More

Lovely opulence at Harcourt's Restaurant in impressive Dean's Place Hotel where my wife and i had a lsmashing lunch as part of her 70th birthday celebration on May 1. Food was marvellous (a couple of prime steaks) but still not sure about having them served on these (apparently fashionable) "Boards". Can it be very hygienic ? Dessert was Bakewell tart... More

Our menus change monthly along with daily chef's recommendations so that we can offer the best of Sussex's wealth of local produce wherever possible.
