Poor food, steak unseasoned, lasagne very cheese heavy with little flavour, sausage, mash and red cabbage ok. Tried a desert between the three of us, apple crumble, little apple flavour overpowered by the cinnamon, custard good. But ..... the table, chairs and floor were sticky to the touch, in fact the waitress had trouble unsticking the empty plate from the... More

We went out for a friends night on the Friday night steak night. 2 rib eyes, chips, onion rings, peas, mushrooms and a bottle of wine - £25! And it's a great, well cooked steak. The food service and value is really good. Pub food at its very best.

This is my choice of watering hole when in Swanage, the choice of beer is always good and they have a great selection of ciders. The food is quite good, but the menu is fairly standard. They have special evenings, a curry night and a steak night and you should book for those.

Time it right and the variety of ciders on offer exceed 50. Quite a few hand pulled beers too. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Would describe it as a more traditional pub with a certain quirky ambience- no corporate sameness here.

Conveniently located in Swanage High Street, the Red Lion is close to everything and still feels like a local pub. It is one of Swanage's oldest pubs with a large beer garden at the rear and two separate bars inside. Last visit, we ate in the dining room area and had 2 home-made fish pies - delicious, hot and filling.... More

We called in to this pub on a rainy evening in Swanage. What a wonderful surprise. It had 30+ ciders available, and always has this many. We sampled a couple, and had a delicious meal. The crayfish and crab linguine was packed full of shellfish, and the Creme brulee was superb, with homemade shortbread biscuits. We were made to feel... More

A lovely quirky little pub, full of charm. The staff were incredibly friendly and service prompt. We all chose the Sunday Roast from the menu (a mix of pork, lamb or beef in our group) and the plates came piled high with tons of meat and the most amazing Yorkshire puddings. Couldn't find room for a pudding which is unusual... More

We ate at this very hospitable pub every evening of our week's visit to Swanage. The food was excellent with service to match. The Crème Brulee was a perfect end to the meal.

we went to this pub to have dinner as the menu posted outside was inviting. as soon as we walked in we realized the place was filthy and smelly. we had a seat to double check the menu.....as soon as I grabbed it my hands got sticky and dirty, so we walked out straight away. I can't say if food... More

The two for £25 Steak and Wine night is amazing value for money, food was so good we booked for the next night and the Seafood Linguine and Fish Pie were equally as good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
