Went here for a late drink. There are so many pubs around that are all very much Chain pubs etc,. but not at the Red Lion. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and reasonably priced.

I've been to The Red Lion many times and usually enjoy sitting outside at the back in the sun. However, in March, this wasn't possible! It was very quiet during our mid-week, lunchtime visit and was a pleasant place to relax. Our meals were ok but nothing remarkable - in fact, the fish pie didn't score very highly on taste,... More

This is one of the better pubs in Swanage and the food is typical pub grub. Prices are reasonable. There are two bars and a dinning area. Usually five well kept beers and about fifty ciders.

It's a pub, rough around the edges, but that is part of it charm. There is nearly always 5 real ales to choose from... but also countless ciders, probably in excess of 50. The garden is nice in the summer. It's the most lively venue of the blues festival.

We ate here on Saturday evening. Wary of huge helpings which pubs often serve we went straight to a main each - beef madras and steak and kidney pudding with vegetables (my choice). The steak and kidney was very good. The meat was very lean and the gravy tasty if a little glutinous. The suet crust pastry was tasty. The... More

We had a great evening out at their Wednesday curry night. A choice of three curries (in addition to the normal menu). We all had a different type of curry, meat, chicken and vegetable and we were all very pleased with the different flavours and the quality was excellent - the meal also included a drink! Will definitely return!

Visited often in past decades but this was the first in 14 years. Loved it. Fine range of beers especially ciders. Had a meal for 3. Top quality, reasonably priced. Staff excellent. Needs a luck of paint but so what?

Been here many times as part of the Swanage Blues Festival. Called in Saturday 28th January for a meal and a couple of Ciders whilst working locally. Just got to say the Red Lion never fails in our opinion. Great Grub as always and an outstanding choice of Ciders. Lovely Staff - Our thanks to Jim, Amy and Becky on... More
