Ideally located, lovely food and generally a lovely atmosphere. Could have done with a little more room, but on the whole this was a great place to eat and relax.

This is a stunning venue, at the Top of Gold Hill THINK Hovis Advert - BUT they don't rely on their location - the food is excellent, service friendly and prices, Very fair and well worth every penny. I Highly recommend the Salt Cellar.

Perfect place to sit and enjoy the view of Gold Hill and beyond. Best pies in Dorset too. Pre book table if you can as gets very busy all year long.

We had lunch on a sunny Saturday. The big windows were open to the lovely view of Gold Hill and breeze. The homemade pies are filling and tasty with a salad. Friendly, efficient service. We will come regularly. Well worth a visit.

We greatly appreciate having a morning off from cooking breakfast, as we run a busy B&B in Lulworth Cove with 10 guests for breakfast most mornings. Well, what a treat we had yesterday morning! The Salt Cellar had come recommended by guests, and we have been wanting to explore Shaftesbury for ages. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed a Full... More

A jolly good place to go for good food and drink, whether it's just for a coffee or bowl of soup, you will not be disappointed. If the weather permits, sit outside for what must be one of the finest views from the top of Gold Hill.

If you like pie’s then the Salt cellar is the place to go, just at the top of the most famous street in the world, or by the name of Gold Hill. We recommend Chicken bacon and mushroom pie with a salad, but honestly all of them look cracking and made on the premises. Enjoy.

En route to Poole for the weekend we were advised to stop at one of the villages along the way, and happened to stumble upon the Salt Cellar. Fair variety on the menu, quality of food really good, and service excellent. Pricing is moderate and another positive aspect of the experience. On top of that the view is quite spectacular....
