My partner and I stopped here for afternoon tea during our recent trip to Devon. We fancied somewhere with a sea view and a little more grand than the many cafes/restaurant that offer afternoon tea. We opted for a sandwich selection, a full afternoon tea and an extra serving of coffee. There were a good selection of fillings and the... More

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Orestone Manor. The food was delicious and cooked to our specification, with good portion sizes. We had the lamb and the fillet steak, both excellent. The dessert was wonderful - the coffee panacotta was really good! We had great wine and then went to the bar area for coffees. Although it's expensive, for a... More

First time here with friends. Lovely restaurant. Excellent service. Good food. Wide choice. We had the table d' hote which was excellent andvery reasonably priced, but there is an extensive a la carte menu as well. They put on themed nights occasionally which sound really interesting and fun.

A friendly welcome from the staff and a table found for us for sunday lunch on the terrace. Attentive staff but a while taking our order. We had two courses for £19, as a starter a delicious small Torbay sole and prawn cocktail. The main was not so successful, very hard and greasy roast potatoes and tough lamb and loads... More

We welcome walk ins but you need to understand there may be a short wait while we serve a booked table. We serve crispy potatoes soft in the middle for which we recieve many compliments. If some were not up to that we would have swapped them in seconds. best to tell us at the time? If you dont like... More

I am glad you had a good time, I dont know for sure why two of the party thought the beef a bit tough as it is all off the same Roasted Rib But Rib has an eye of fat through it which adds flavour there's perhaps was not right we could have changed in seconds to carve off another... More

We received, as a gift, a voucher for a two-course meal at a number of upmarket dining locations and chose Orestone Manor while we were on holiday in Torquay. The situation is delightful and the staff were extremely attentive so we were given a very favourable impression of the place on arrival. We both chose the Brixham plaice as it... More

The setting and staff are very nice. But the food left me underwhelmed. The scallop starter was nice with perfectly cooked scallops but missed any texture. The main of half a lobster was ok but a soggy salad, but edible. And the lemon tart had unfortunately a soft crust. I wouldn't call this restaurant 'fine dining', but with some changes... More

Thank you for your review, The scallops should have had crushed hazelnuts as part of the topping for texture I would have liked to have been able to investigate problems on the night to determine what went wrong so that we can prevent future problems occuring, and perhaps put right your dish as well, We always appreciate our guests constructive... The location and place itself are great, but I personally found the food too oily, although reasonably priced for what you get.

Don't eat before the full afternoon tea. Just don't. Have a light breakfast; at most a bowl of soup with one small slice of bread as an early lunch, then turn up at the Orestone at 4 for the full works afternoon tea. Sandwiches to order (though having asked for brown bread we were surprised to have mostly white bread),... More
