We ate here twice during our holiday in Plymouth. On both occasions, the food was superb and incredibly inexpensive. The clam chowder, garlic mushrooms, plaice fillets, and fried haddock were all excellent. The wine list is sensibly short and the Sauvignon Blanc was really good. The seating is comfortable, although not luxurious, and this is not the place for a... More

Once again Platters did what Platters do well; fresh great tasting fish, great service and the wine was quite acceptable. It was a quiet weekday evening. Often we've had to sit close to others (but that is irrelevant).

I love fish dishes, so visit here every year whilst on holiday in Devon. Don't be put off by the cafe image; this is a fish restaurant, where they have a wide variety of fish species on the menu. These guys and gals know how to cook fish, and offer duos or trios of different fish on one plate. Fresh... More

We Called for fish and chips and had the gall to ask if the service would be long as we were going to the Theatre. THe waiter immediately got the hump and was. Very unfriendly after that. THe fish and chips was average. Would not go back because of their attitude.

Visited Platters restaurant on Thursday 7th July 2016 for the first time in about 25 years with family,my wife and son both had cod and chips, big portions, and i had the seafood rissotto. Cod and chips were okay, and i would have liked more flavour to the rissotto. The take away side does nice fish and chips and is always goodto buy... More

Very very disappointed with the takeaway. The fish was overcooked and dripping in grease the chips were also over done. The mushy peas were tasteless and were just really peas floating in water not nice at all. At least the pigeon enjoyed the peas.

My goodness! No worries of portion control here.... A really warm welcome and how refreshing to watch your dinner being cooked. A wonderful choice of sea food. Order taken promptly by a lovely lady. Great selection on offer from the menu and specials board. Served piping hot and well presented on enormous plates. Looking forward to the next visit.

The harbour area boasts with many many pubs and restaurants, but this one caught our attention because of the variety of marine plates. It was full, so we returned after 15 min, still full! But then we had to wait again 2 minutes. We did. Then came the starter, really perfect oysters! The main, a turbot, was sensational! And, what... More

Personally I don't eat a lot of fish - but this I would live on. It was the most beautiful piece of cod - and very large. The restaurant was welcoming and very busy. One of us asked for the peas to be missed off - and instead of nothing, they were replaced by cress, tomato and a lemon wedge,... More
