We used our Groupon voucher for the 'surf or turf meal for two' and it was very good. Staff made us feel really welcome and you can add to the voucher deal with starters and desserts. The food was excellent and the atmosphere very cosy when having a meal for two. There was also a large group in but it... More

Just had a delicious evening as part of a groupon deal. Started with Camembert and then had the swordfish. Both scrummy! Puddings and wine were beautiful. Will see us both again soon.

We visited the Chancel for a Saturday night meal for four. We were down from London to visit family in Plymouth. The ambience was excellent and the staff were very professional and attentive. Neil the maitre'd had a friendly but professional approach and was always on hand to ensure that we had what we needed. Neil has an extensive knowledge... More

This wasn't our first visit to the Chancel but I've not posted a review before and the Chancel most certainly deserves one. We have never had a bad meal here and last night was no exception. Every course was excellent, we mostly had different starters and all of them were first rate. The steaks were cooked perfectly and an excellent... More

Came with a group of colleagues from a course. We had ore ordered the food and the service was excellent. The baked Camembert starter was excellent really tasty with lovely bread and the beef goulash was excellent too. Lovely tender beef and the sauce was tasty and rich. Very good value for money. One drawback is that you felt quite... More

A lovely girls lunch. Regan fantastic. Veronica great coffee. Tapas to die for. Honey chorizos and potatoes bravas perfect. Choice of wines all great as some of us wanted white and others red. All in all a lovely lunch

We were in Plymouth with friends and came for supper before a concert. Our friends are local and when describing the restaurant they used the word 'consistent'. Well we had a very good meal. We started with a baked camembert,(enough for 3-4 to share); then had the lamb, which was well cooked and the steak in the mushroom and Madeira... More

The food was absolutely wonderful. I ordered fish cakes for my starter. Oh wow! The lime and chilli dressing was beautiful. Followed by steak which was good exactly as I wanted. The veg looked so pretty on the plate with little parcels of beans wrapped in a courgette ribbon. Yum! Disappointingly they ran out of Prosecco but I was offered... More

My husband had just come back after being away and we wanted to go out for lunch and decided to choose a place we had never been before. The menu is amazing from Tapas to main meals and snacks. We decided to go for the Tapas and a bottle of wine and the food was hot when it came out... More

Popped into The Chancel for lunch when in Plymouth for the day. Inside it's cosy and nicely decorated, and staff were friendly and helpful. Lunch was tasty with good portion sizes, and reasonably priced. Recommended.
