I had been told to use Francines several times. When i finally got round to it i was pleasently surprised. I ordered fish, and sausages along with a medium portion of chips. Well if the fish was big and tasty the sausages were equal to it. The chips portion was so big it would have done four people. I could... More

We were told when we came to live in Plymouth that this was the best chip shop in town which is great as it's only around the corner. Haven't tried all the others yet but it's certainly excellent and well worth the long wait in the queue but everything is cooked fresh to order.

Went in there with an order for five people and didn't have to wait long at all. The fish was massive and the chips were delicious. Will probably share a portion next time and there will definitely be a next time! There is plenty to choose from on the menu including rice and spring rolls plus they do a childrens... More

Thought I'd revisit after I was put off with previous problems with service, but I wish I didn't Granted they were very busy but employ someone to answer the phone then they could have TWO people taking orders rather than just one and the queue going out the door as someone has already said enough staff but not quick also... Used to eat here a lot however recently the food isn't as good as it has been previously. Extremely greasy, portions getting smaller and the cheesy chips I had had a sprinkle of cheese rather than the generous portions that used to be given.

The best chip shop in Plymouth for me.. for folk that don't like grease then it's not the place for you.. portion sizes do seem to depend on who serves you but usually very big. Fish is amazing as are their battered sausages, chicken and kebabs! For those that don't like waiting you can ring ahead with your order and... More

Ordered 2 portions of cod and chips ( £ 5.75 each ) this Friday evening and was not at all impressed with the quality of either. The fish was over cooked and tasteless , batter thick and greasy chips tasted like they had been reheated There was a lot of it but not at all enjoyable. Will not be going back.

Poor service, 45 min wait , owner wasn't bothered more about profit nowadays then quality and customer service. More then enough staff for a quick take away .Charged me on arrival so unable to retract. Original owner Francine was all about quality and customer satisfaction. Have'nt been since and would rather drive to West Hoe Chippy, owner interacts and food... More

Huge portions, lovely chicken, one portion chips enough for 2. Great staff, just a little hard to park. But worth it.

I'm a regular of Francine's fish and chip shop so I know the standard that they have and what I received from them today was appalling... I went during lunch time and all the chips I had were soggy, black and had a funny smell. It actually made me feel physically sick. I got cheesy chips and all the cheese... More

Every English town or city has its favourite chip shop, especially when you can also sit in and where the shop is a local hub or draws customers from miles around. Francine's is one of those. On the fringe of a very poor area, but award winning constantly busy and renown. Not fine dining but a good option for locals and visitors.fresh fish from the local quay. Well worth a Tripadvisor listing.
